Former Dallas Cowboys star Amari Cooper made a name for himself again with his electric debut with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, just five days after the big news dropped.

The Cleveland Browns traded Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Bills in exchange for a 2025 third-round and 2026 seventh-round pick. Cooper’s third trade in his career sparked a conversation with his old team’s owner, Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys owner recalled being in a similar situation in 2022 and said, “We went for the dollars. When we traded Amari Cooper, we saved almost $20 million for our cap and the future. We took a lesser draft pick to get that savings. Cleveland went for more draft picks and less savings when he made this move the other day. It was very simple.”

Cooper played for the Cowboys for four seasons after being traded from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a 27th overall pick, Johnathan Abrams, during the 2016 NFL Draft.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry bid farewell to Cooper with a statement: “We appreciate Amari’s hard work, professionalism, and on-field contributions throughout his two-plus seasons with us. He created many memorable moments with us and was an integral part of our 2023 playoff team. We wish him the best in Buffalo as he continues his NFL career.”

The Bills secured a massive 34-10 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and a lot of the credit goes to their new wide receiver, who excelled effortlessly during his debut.

Cooper caught four passes for 66 yards in the game against the Titans, including the early catch during the third quarter, which gave the Bills their first lead.

Talking about his experience playing with the Bills and Josh Allen for the first time, Amari told ESPN:

“I think being seven years in the league now, just like understanding guys of [Cooper’s] caliber, they don’t need a lot,” Allen said. “They go out there, give him a clear mind, let him go play. That’s what he did out there a couple times, just finding zones, finding windows. He made a really good catch on that slant.

“But, again, just the professionalism that he has, the ability that he has, just trusting what I see with him, and things will turn out pretty good.”

The Bills will be preparing to take on the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, and fans would be interested to see how the new Cooper-Allen duo performs in their second match together.
