The resurgence of the Denver Broncos has been delightful to see, especially for fantasy football managers who believed in QB Russell Wilson and his pass catchers. Heading into a Week 13 matchup at Houston, are you starting Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, or Marvin Mims Jr.?
Should You Start Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, or Marvin Mims Jr. for Fantasy Football in Week 13?
In the Pro Football Network Start/Sit Optimizer, PFN’s Consensus Rankings say managers should start Sutton. He is projected to have 12.7 fantasy points on 5 receptions and 66 receiving yards. Jeudy is projected for 9.1 fantasy points on three receptions and 43 receiving yards. Finally, Mims is projected for 6.6 fantasy points on two receptions and 37 receiving yards.
I agree with the Optimizer and am starting Sutton this week.
Fantasy Outlook for Sutton This Week
How do you not start Sutton at this point? The man has caught a touchdown in every game except three and has caught one in four out of the last five games. He didn’t manage to pull one in against Cleveland. This has helped Sutton achieve the WR22 on the season with a 23% target share in a Broncos offense that has won five straight.
The Texans are average against receivers, and I expect Russell Wilson to try to scheme Sutton back into the endzone. He is his go-to guy in the red zone and is WR22 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
Fantasy Outlook for Jeudy This Week
Jeudy was expected to have a big breakout in Denver this year, but he has been no more than average. He has not had a fantasy finish better than WR26 and is averaging just over five targets a game. His playing time has seen a slight decline with the rise of Mims’ playing time, and it seems like he is just not Wilson’s preferred target.
The Alabama product only has six red-zone targets compared to Sutton’s 15 red-zone, and you simply cannot start him over Sutton with that difference. This week, Jeudy comes in as WR41 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
Fantasy Outlook for Mims This Week
The rookie Mims has shown a couple of signs of life this season. He was WR13 and WR18 in Weeks 2 and 3, but beyond that, he really has not been startable for fantasy. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the breakout season is in the cards for Mims in 2023.
He is currently WR80 on the year and has seen his usage increase, which is a sign that he is gaining trust in Denver. His target share has gone from 3% in Week 10 against Buffalo to 14% in Week 12. Unfortunately, it’s still not enough to make the speedster fantasy relevant. This week, Mims is WR63 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
Out of the three Denver WR options, Sutton is the one to slide into your lineup in Week 13.
