The 2025 season hasn’t gotten off to the start that the Washington Commanders may have wanted. After making it to the NFC Championship Game last season, the team made a plethora of moves to further improve its chances this year.
But injuries have ravaged the roster throughout the season, particularly on the offensive end. Names like Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin, alongside their main offseason addition, Deebo Samuel, have missed extended portions of the season. As a result, one analyst believes the team should aim for another trade to improve its offensive weapons.

Commanders Could Add Offensive Firepower for Playoff Push
At 3-5 through eight weeks, the season hasn’t gone according to plan at all for Washington. However, the bigger worry for them has to be the injuries on the roster, which could effectively minimize any chances of making a late-season playoff push.
As it stands, all three of their primary receivers have dealt with some injury or another. McLaurin has suited up for just four games, while Samuel, despite playing in seven of their games so far, has been continuously banged up.
That leaves Noah Brown, who has been on injured reserve with a groin injury and has only played in two games this year. Simply put, even if Daniels comes back fully healthy and doesn’t miss any more time, the rest of the offensive unit is in shambles.
As a result, Jacob Infante, in his trade target for every NFL team, pegged Washington as a team that could go after DJ Moore of the Chicago Bears. Ranked 39th on PFSN’s WR Impact, he has 331 yards and a touchdown this season.
Falling behind Rome Odunze on the Bears’ depth chart, he can still produce with the best of them, as he has over 888 yards or more in each of the last six seasons, including four 1,000+ receiving-yard years for career totals of 7,862 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns (one rushing).
As a result, Infante believes Moore could be the perfect antidote for a lot of the problems plaguing the Commanders. “They could make a handful of moves at the 2025 NFL trade deadline, but DJ Moore would be a bold target that could make a big difference.”
As it currently stands, the offense hasn’t been downright terrible for Washington, as they rank 11th on PFSN’s Offense Impact. But their ground game has been the one to carry a heavy burden of that success.
If the passing game can catch up quickly, which the addition of Moore could certainly ensure, then a push for a Wild Card spot in the NFC could become a realistic goal for them once again.
