Travis Hunter is a generational talent who all teams have an eye on heading into this year’s draft. If he drops below the top four picks, it’ll be a surprise. His ability to play both sides of the ball at such a high level is rare — something the NFL hasn’t seen since his head coach, Deion Sanders.
Trying to project where Hunter will play in the NFL is tricky because he’s so good at both wide receiver and cornerback. NFL legends Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman weighed in on his potential landing spots, and while they didn’t arrive at the same conclusion about where he could go, they did agree on a team he shouldn’t go to.

NFL Legends Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman Beleive Travis Hunter Shouldn’t Go to Jacksonville
During the “Dudes on Dudes” podcast, Edelman claimed he didn’t want the Jacksonville Jaguars to pick Travis Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft. Gronkowski agreed.
Here is the fun exchange between the two NFL legends:
“I hope he doesn’t go to the Jags,” Edelman said.
“I hope he doesn’t go to the Jags either,” Gronkowski said.
“I bet you the Jags pick him up, though,” Edelman said.
“No. He can’t go to the Jags,” Gronkowski said.
“I can see him going to the Jags. I think Travis Hunter is going to the Jags,” Edelman said.
“It won’t be fun, though, if he goes to Jacksonville,” Gronkowski said.

Patriots Might Be in Play for Colorado Standout
Gronkowski was totally against the idea of Hunter going to the Jaguars. He lobbied for the two-way star to go to an exciting market like New England or New York.
“It needs to be a fun market for Travis Hunter,” Gronkowski said. “He needs to go to like a New York market, Patriots market, like something like that. Even Cleveland’s better than Jacksonville.”
Gronkowski eventually settled on the New England Patriots, for whom he played for nine seasons and won three Super Bowl championships.
“I think he’s going to the New England Patriots,” Gronkowski said. “I think they need help on both sides of the ball, so why not draft a two-way player? They don’t need a quarterback. They need a receiver, and if it doesn’t work out at receiver, he can play defensive back [or vice-versa]… It’s a win-win situation.”
Giants Draft Travis Hunter in PFSN Mock Draft
In PFSN’s latest mock draft by Joe DeLeone, Hunter is predicted to be snapped early by the New York Giants at No. 3 while the Patriots select Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.
DeLeone wrote: “In this circumstance, Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen would be kicking themselves for not doing more to trade up to get a starter-worthy quarterback. Instead, they’ll need to go with the flashiest name, that being Hunter. By drafting the Heisman winner, the Giants will get a lockdown corner opposite Deonte Banks and a secondary receiving option opposite Malik Nabers.”
Hunter’s time at Colorado from 2023 to 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. He caught 96 balls for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns last season — and that was just on offense.
On defense, Hunter posted 36 total tackles, 11 pass breakups, and four interceptions — all career highs. With his game still trending upward, there’s a real chance he hasn’t even hit his ceiling yet and would be too good to pass up for any team.
