Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders has been one of the premier quarterbacks in college football this season. He has registered 3,488 yards with a 73.4% completion percentage, resulting in 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions to lead the Buffs to bowl eligibility and an 8-3 record.
On Tuesday, No.v 26, Sanders was named among the three finalists for the prestigious Davey O’Brien Award, which recognizes the best quarterback in college football. The other finalists are Oregon Ducks star Dillon Gabriel and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.

Coach Prime To Intervene in Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Future
Coach Prime has been outspoken about his son’s draft future. During an appearance on last week’s “Speak on FS1,” the charismatic coach was unequivocal about intervening in Shedeur’s draft future, dictating which teams can pick him in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly. I’m going to do it privately,” Deion Sanders said. “I’m not going to give you regions. I’ll give you understanding. Somebody that can handle the quarterback that he is. Somebody that can handle what he’s capable of. Someone that has had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization that understands what they’re doing.”
Coach Prime further broke down which specific qualities he would consider for a team willing to draft Shedeur.
“Not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves if you don’t have the support in the infrastructure of the team,” the elder Sanders said.
“Forget the [offensive] line. He’s played with lines that hadn’t been great, but he’s been able to do his thing. But just the infrastructure of the team and the direction of where we’re going.”
In some quarters, Deion and Shedeur Sanders have been touted as a package deal, with “The Ringer’s” Bill Simmons stating in last week’s podcast episode that Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis would make for the ideal boss for the father-son duo as coach and quarterback.
ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid has projected the Colorado QB to be the second quarterback off the board in next year’s draft after Ward, but the general consensus among draft experts is that Sanders will be a high first-round selection.
