‘This Is a New York Rat’ — Coach Prime and NFL-Bound Shedeur Sanders Tease Deion Jr. Ahead of Heisman Ceremony

Shedeur Sanders shines through in an informal family roast session as dad and coach Deion Sanders warns him ahead of New York visit.

Deion Sanders and his son Shedeur Sanders had fans cracking up with their back and forth as the latter prepares to attend this year’s Heisman ceremony. Shedeur isn’t a finalist; he’ll be there to support his close friend and teammate Travis Hunter, who is ruling the charts. However, Coach Prime delivered amusing, over-the-top advice for the 22-year-old Colorado QB to survive in New York.

Deion Sanders Amuses Fans With Humorous Advice to Shedeur Sanders

A tweet from Overtime captured Shedeur FaceTiming his father from a shop. He was surrounded by cameramen, including his elder brother, Deion Sanders Jr., who recorded the whole thing on his phone.

It’s no surprise that he would roll through New York with bodyguards and skip the subway altogether while also being captured by Well Off Media, Deion Jr.’s brand, as usual. Therefore, as the conversation went forward, the $45 million Coach Prime warned his son about the city, joking, “You gonna have cameras around, and they gonna watch you get robbed. Show you a rat on the subway, a New York rat.”

Shedeur laughed humorously as he used the opportunity to throw shade at Deion Jr. for some laughs. “This is a New York rat. This is the family rat, right here,” answered the Buffs QB while posing the camera at Bucky, as Sanders Jr. is fondly called.

The jokes continued when the topic shifted to Shedeur’s suit for the big event. Deion Jr. couldn’t resist teasing, “Does your dad still dress you?” Shedeur, quick with a reply, said, “He pays for it,” making a solid case for letting his dad call the fashion shots at 21.

Though Coach Prime would pay for his youngest son’s suit, Shedeur is living the high life as the top NIL earner this year. According to On3, he has a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) valuation of $6.2 million and a three-star industry ranking. In August, Shedeur became the first college football player to sign an NIL deal with Nike for his superlative face value.

As confirmed by Bleacher Report, Shedeur is preparing for the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28 in San Antonio. The Colorado Buffaloes, led by quarterback Shedeur and under Deion, will face the BYU Cougars, a team that last faced CU football in the 1988 Freedom Bowl.

The Colorado QB has finished the regular season on a high, throwing for 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns with eight interceptions. However, he’ll play one more game in Colorado’s black and gold, the Alamo Bowl, on Dec. 28 against the BYU Cougars.

Shedeur’s next game is the East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be held on Jan. 30 at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys and his home state of Texas.
