Cincinnati Bengals Practice Report: 2 Players Who Missed Wednesday Return To Action

Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson, who had a strong season debut Sunday against the Patriots, returned to practice after missing Wednesday.

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals were without starting wide receiver Tee Higgins again for today’s practice.

But two other players who missed Wednesday’s practice were back on the field.

Linebacker Logan Wilson and tight end Tanner Hudson each sat out Wednesday with knee injuries, but both players were taking part in team stretch and position drills during the portion of practice open to the media.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor addressed Hudson’s injury before Wednesday’s practice.

“There are a couple of guys we’ll keep managing through the week,” Taylor said after mentioning Hudson and rookie first-round pick Amarius Mims.

But Taylor didn’t mention Wilson, which suggests the injury isn’t that serious and that the expectation was for him to return all along rather than being something the team would need to manage.

Wilson led the Bengals with 12 tackles and three quarterback hits on Sunday. He also forced a fumble and had one tackle for loss.

The three quarterback hits set a new career high, while the 12 tackles tied for the fourth-highest total of Wilson’s career.

Wilson was listed as limited today, but the injury is not expected to limit him Sunday in Kansas City.

Hudson had two catches for 18 yards against the Patriots. His second catch should have been a 15-yard touchdown to tie the game, but instead, he fumbled at the 1-yard line, and New England converted that into a field goal on the final play of the first half to take a 10-0 lead.

Hudson also was listed as limited in his return to the practice field.

Another player on the injured list isn’t a starter yet, but he could be in short order.

Mims was on a path to possibly win the starting right tackle job before he suffered a pectoral injury in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He was a limited participant in three of the four practices last week and has been limited in both practices this week.

Mims will likely need to have a couple of practices where he goes full before he’s active on gameday as a reserve. And then the countdown will be on for how quickly he can take over for Trent Brown as the starter, especially if Brown dcontinues to struggle the way he did Sunday.

Rookie second-round pick Kris Jenkins was on the rehab field again today after having surgery on his right thumb Friday.

Taylor initially said he couldn’t rule out Jenkins playing against the Chiefs despite the surgery, but the fact that he has missed three consecutive practices suggests he won’t be making his season debut until the Week 3 Monday night game against the Washington Commanders at the earliest.

Defensive tackle B.J. Hill (knee) was upgraded from limited to full.

And running back Zack Moss was a new addition to the injury report with a neck issue, but he was a full participant.
