Christian McCaffrey is looking to rebound from a 2024 season where he appeared in just four games. The San Francisco 49ers running back spent the Fourth of July weekend celebrating with his wife, Olivia Culpo, as the two are expecting their first child soon.

Olivia Culpo’s Playful Fourth of July Post Shows Christian McCaffrey in Great Shape
Culpo took to social media to share their holiday festivities with a lighthearted caption featuring a clever play on words. The photos show McCaffrey looking fantastic, clearly in peak physical condition as he prepares for the upcoming season.
He’ll be playing for the first time as a father after the couple announced they were expecting in March 2025, less than a year after they were married in June 2024.

As a former Miss Universe winner, Culpo hasn’t been shy about showing off her baby bump since becoming pregnant. McCaffrey’s wife posted after the Fourth of July with a caption reading, “Buns in the oven, burgers on the grill. Happy 4th love you all.”
The “buns in the oven” reference is a clever nod to her pregnancy, which was prominently featured in the first image she shared. No matter how many injuries McCaffrey has dealt with throughout his career, it’s clear he’s putting all of that aside to focus on becoming a father.
Culpo has over five million followers on Instagram who are all eagerly waiting to learn the baby’s sex, which the couple has chosen to keep secret until birth.
McCaffrey Ready for Full Return After Injury-Plagued 2024
Reports have surfaced that McCaffrey is fully cleared for the 49ers training camp after an injury-plagued 2024 season. Achilles tendinitis kept him out of action for the first eight games, and then a right knee injury in Week 12 ended his season early. The PCL injury sidelined him for the remainder of the year as the 49ers finished 6-11.
San Francisco collapsed down the stretch, dropping their last four games and seven of their last eight as they failed to make the postseason after starting 5-4. It marked the first time they missed the playoffs since the 2020 season when they went 6-10.
McCaffrey showed flashes of his old self when he returned last season. He recorded 68 receiving yards and 39 rushing yards in his first game back, then followed that up with a 79-yard rushing performance.
However, he barely surpassed 200 rushing yards total in his four games played. The 202 rushing yards and 146 receiving yards were his final numbers for the season, during which the team went 1-3 in games he played.
After leading the league in rushing yards and earning 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors, McCaffrey will look to harness his new dad energy as he tries to stay healthy and return to elite form for the entire 2025 season.
The 49ers desperately need their star back to full strength if they want to bounce back from their disappointing 2024 campaign and return to playoff contention.
