Two-Time Super Bowl Winner Reacts to Lamar Jackson’s Playoff Struggles, Postgame Response

Two-time Super Bowl winner Chris Long praises Lamar Jackson’s character and sportsmanship despite Baltimore’s playoff heartbreak.

The Baltimore Ravens’ playoff journey came to a disappointing end on Sunday, as Lamar Jackson and his squad fell just short in a 27-25 thriller against the Buffalo Bills. Despite a valiant effort, the loss extended the Ravens’ frustrating streak of playoff exits in the Divisional Round and further fueled the narrative surrounding the team’s postseason struggles.

Jackson finished the night completing 18 of 25 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns, but critical turnovers — an interception and a costly fumble — proved to be too much to overcome.

    Chris Long Praises Lamar Jackson

Despite the disappointment, Jackson’s poise under pressure drew praise from an unexpected source. Two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Long used his “Green Light” podcast to highlight Jackson’s response to the loss.

“I was blown away by his grace and his humility and his ability in his worst moment to smile,” Long said. “I don’t wanna hear a bad thing about Lamar—the person, the teammate, the leader, or the human being. He’s as accountable and f***ing standup as anybody in the league. And he’s damn close to one of the best players on the planet.”

Jackson played well in the loss, at times outpacing his counterpart, Josh Allen. However,  his two turnovers put the Ravens behind the eight ball.

Although Jackson has largely avoided major criticism — that’s been passed onto tight end Mark Andrews — he also earned himself praise from a fellow star.

How Did Lamar React to the Loss?

Long’s comments stemmed from an interaction after the game that resonated with fans and players alike. He was referring to Jackson’s heartfelt interaction with Allen after the game.

Amid the bitter weather and even colder disappointment, Jackson approached Allen on the field. The two embraced, and Jackson’s words reflected both respect and encouragement. “Good game, bro,” he said. “Keep doing your thing, baby. Go get some, man!” It was a genuine moment of sportsmanship, a reminder of Jackson’s character beyond the stat sheet and the criticism.

However, Jackson’s composure didn’t mean he wasn’t frustrated. In his postgame press conference, he let his emotions spill out in a brief, expletive-laden rant — a raw and honest reaction from a player fed up with falling short in the postseason.

“I’m tired of being right there. We need to punch in that ticket,” Jackson said earlier, capturing the frustration shared by the entire Ravens organization.

For the Ravens, the loss was a stark reminder of the fine margins that separate victory and defeat. This defeat will undoubtedly sting for some time, but Baltimore remains one of the league’s most talented teams. The offense ranked second in the league by PFN’s Offense+ metric, highlighting Jackson’s combined powers with running back Derrick Henry.

The Ravens’ ability to reach this stage despite injuries and inconsistencies speaks volumes about their resilience. If they can address their weaknesses: turnovers, depth issues, and situational execution, this loss could one day be seen as a turning point for Jackson and Baltimore’s Super Bowl hopes.
