Chiefs Star Lashes Out at Fans Amid Criticism for Kansas City’s Disastrous Showing In Super Bowl 59

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 by a score of 40-22. Going down 34-0 was not what Kansas City had envisioned in their attempt to win three Super Bowls in a row. But the Eagles took it to the Chiefs and secured their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu took to social media to go after fans and defend himself and his team after the Chiefs’ poor Super Bowl performance.

    Charles Omenihu’s Tweet

Omenihu was unhappy with the criticism received after the Super Bowl. He went after the fans who make opinions on social media without knowing the Xs and Os that go into a football game.

“Here come the Twitter GMs, making their stupid opinions as if you all really know football or watched tape, lol,” said Omenihu.

Omenihu lashed out at fans who just leave their takes on social media. It is easy to overreact after a game of this magnitude for both Omenihu and the “Twitter GMs.”

His frustration comes from users who feel free to judge performances without knowing football. When it’s the biggest stage with all of America watching, fans are going to form opinions based on what they see, whether they watch film or not.

Calling fans stupid is not the most professional move. But, surely, it is not easy to handle a loss on the biggest stage, especially after being embarrassed. Omenihu was frustrated and emotional after a loss that left him in tears on the sideline.

Criticizing the Chiefs after such a poor performance across the board is going to happen. The Chiefs did not show up to play at the level required to win a Super Bowl. The bottom line is that the Chiefs were nowhere near the level they played throughout the year, and people will let them know.

What Went Wrong for the Chiefs

Well, just about everything went wrong for the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes is going to be a Hall of Famer once his career is over, but he didn’t show up to play until the game was out of reach. Mahomes was making uncharacteristic mistakes with two costly interceptions.

One of these interceptions was a pick-six, and the other was deep in their territory, which led to a touchdown before the first half ended.

Mahomes didn’t help himself out, but the offensive line didn’t show up either. He was sacked six times on the night and was pressured on many occasions. The Eagles’ defensive line showed up hungry and ready to hunt Mahomes down, and that’s what they did.

The Chiefs’ defense was on the field in the first half for a while, and their secondary struggled. The defensive line did a good job containing Saquon Barkley for the most part, but it couldn’t always make the key third-down stop to bail out the offense.

The offense didn’t deal the Chiefs’ defense the best hand but still allowed 40 points on the night. Overall, it will be a night to forget for the Chiefs, and they will surely be back soon.
