‘Can’t Go Out Like That’ – Chiefs Star DE Believes Travis Kelce Has ‘A Lot Left’ Despite Retirement Rumors

Travis Kelce hanging up his cleats? Not so fast.

While retirement rumors swirl, one of his Kansas City Chiefs teammates isn’t buying it. The Chiefs’ dominant tight end’s been the heart of their offense for years, and according to a star defender, Kelce still has plenty left in the tank.

Sure, he’s racked up three Super Bowl rings, a Hall of Fame résumé, and an A-list romance, but walking away now? That’s not his style.

Charles Omenihu’s Confident Travis Kelce Isn’t Done Yet

Charles Omenihu isn’t having the whole Kelce walking away after that Super Bowl loss. The Chiefs’ DE made it clear: he believes Kelce has “a lot left” and shouldn’t retire just yet.

“We can’t go out like that,” Omenihu said on “The Facility.”

“You know, like he’s a Hall of Fame Hall of Famer, from the moment he says, ‘I’m done,’ so, but I think Travis has a lot left. I think Travis is an extreme competitor. I think he’s somebody that loves the game. And I think in the historic career that he’s had going out like that, in my opinion, wouldn’t be something that he would do. So I believe that he’ll be back. I believe that he’ll give you one more go.”

Kelce, 35, has been the backbone of KC’s offense for over a decade. With 12,151 career receiving yards and 80 touchdowns, he’s already cemented his place in Canton. But after the Chiefs’ crushing 40-22 Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles, he admitted he needed time to consider his future.

Omenihu understands the thought process but remains confident Kelce will be back. “We have guys coming back on that team,” he said, hinting at another championship push.

Given Kelce’s fiery personality and his deep connection to Patrick Mahomes, it’s hard to picture him leaving now.

He put up 823 yards and three touchdowns last season — his lowest output since 2015, but still elite for a tight end. The numbers suggest he’s still a major weapon, even if he’s lost a step.

For now, Kelce remains undecided. But if Omenihu has his way, the Chiefs’ star will suit up for at least one more run. Because as far as his teammates are concerned, THAT wasn’t the way to go out.

    Tick-tock, Travis.

The Chiefs reportedly want an answer on Kelce’s future by March 14 — just days into free agency and right before his $11.5 million roster bonus kicks in.

At 35, Kelce has little left to prove. Three Super Bowl rings, 10 Pro Bowls, and a resume that guarantees a spot in Canton. But after another deep playoff run and a grueling season, he admitted retirement is on the table.

Still, he remains third all-time among tight ends in catches (1,004) and yards (12,151), trailing only legends like Tony Gonzalez, who played 95 more games.

Kelce isn’t rushing his decision, but the Chiefs need clarity. Whether he runs it back or calls it a career, one thing’s certain: he’s already left an unmatched legacy in Kansas City.
