Taylor Swift’s Unexpected First Game Gesture Surprises Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Friday, Hunt recalled Swift’s debut at Arrowhead Stadium on September 24, 2023, when the Chiefs faced the Chicago Bears. Instead of opting for a discreet arrival through a private entrance, the 14-time Grammy winner walked directly through the stadium’s main doors.

Hunt admitted that this decision was a surprise even to the organization’s leadership. “I think the most amazing thing about that first game, which caught us all by surprise, was the fact that she literally walked in the front door. And we had offered to get her some special security, and she said, no, I want to be just like a typical fan. I’m coming straight in the front door,” Hunt told on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

For someone of Swift’s global fame, choosing to mingle with the crowd rather than bypass it with heightened security was notable. Hunt acknowledged the challenge for stadium staff, explaining that the Chiefs’ security team has worked diligently to ensure her safety at home and away games.

Since that first outing, she has used private access, but the initial choice demonstrated her desire to experience the event like any other attendee. Swift’s connection to Kelce and consistent presence at games have become fixtures in the Chiefs’ recent history.

As of now, she has attended 22 games, with the team winning 19 of those matchups. This run includes appearances at two Super Bowls, celebrating a 25–22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in 2024 and enduring a 40–22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, her hometown team.

Beyond the win-loss record, Hunt credited Swift with impacting the franchise’s fan demographics. He noted that the Chiefs’ female fan base has grown from an even split with male supporters to a 57% majority, which he believes is among the highest in the NFL. Hunt described the past two years since Swift entered the Chiefs’ orbit as “a whirlwind” and said his daughters were thrilled to have her as part of the “Chiefs’ kingdom.”

By stepping through the front doors that first day, Swift surprised team leadership and set the stage for her role as an unexpected ambassador for the sport and the franchise.
