BJ Thompson Leaves Hospital After Cardiac Event in Chiefs’ Meeting

Just days after going into cardiac arrest, Kansas City Chiefs DL BJ Thompson has finally been released from the hospital.

Four days ago, BJ Thompson suffered a seizure and cardiac arrest at the Kansas City Chiefs‘ facility that had him immediately transported to the local hospital. The 25-year-old left the hospital Monday night and is now back with his family.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was the first to report on the news via Thompson’s agent Chris Turnage.

“The family thanks everyone for their prayers and wants to especially thank the Chiefs medical and training staff for their rapid response and professionalism throughout this situation,” Turnage said in a statement.

Thompson played in just one game for the Chiefs in 2023 and recorded two tackles. He was a part of the team’s run to a second straight Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVIII this past winter and was expected to take on a bigger role this season.

Of course, football means very little now when it comes to Thompson getting back to 100% and being able to live his life with his family the way he wants to.
