Week 2 of the 2024 NFL regular season is here, and the Chicago Bears will be on the road to take on the Houston Texans with the world watching on Sunday Night Football as Caleb Williams and C.J. Stroud face off.

With pre-game activities highlighting the Texans’ home opener, who will be singing the national anthem?

National Anthem Singer for Chicago Bears-Houston Texans Revealed

Clay Walker will be singing the national anthem, as he is a favorite of Texans’ co-founder Janice McNair. With the game being played in Houston, it shouldn’t be a surprise that a country singer will be performing.

Walker, who was born in Vidor, Texas, has been active in the industry since 1993. He’s released 11 studio albums, including a greatest hits album and an album of Christmas music.

Walker started his career hot, with his first four studio albums all earning platinum certification. His fifth studio album and his greatest hits collection were both gold certifications as well.

With over thirty singles, six of them have reached number one on the Hot Country Songs list.

Those songs are “What’s It to You,” “Live Until I Die,” “Dreaming with My Eyes Open,” “If I Could Make a Living,” “This Woman and This Man,” and “Rumor Has It.”

Walker’s most recent single, “I Know She Hung The Moon,” was released in April. His last album, Texas to Tennessee, was released in 2021 after he signed with Show Dog Nashville.

Walker’s performance before Sunday Night Football won’t be the first time he’s dabbled in the NFL, and specifically the Texans.

Just last year, he sang the national anthem at NRG Stadium when the Texans hosted the Colts. He also sings “Football Time In Houston” regularly ahead of home games.

In addition to Walker’s pre-game performance, the Texans will present a halftime show featuring Slim Thug, Maxo Kream, and BigXthaPlug.
