In his second season with the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders saw his offense put up 49 points against the Utah Utes on Saturday at home. Late in the fourth quarter, with the game well in hand, the Buffaloes had a first-and-goal at the 4-yard line. Junior running back Charlie Offerdahl took the handoff and ran to the end zone for a touchdown, extending the final lead by 18 points.
Post-game, discussing his first career touchdown in his fourth season at CU and who he was grateful to, Offerdahl gave Sanders the ultimate honor.
Colorado’s Charlie Offerdahl Praises Deion Sanders Like a Father
“First of all, all the glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; I wouldn’t be here without him, and I sure wouldn’t be here without Coach Prime. I gotta give so much thanks to him. I love him like a second father. And credit to the O-line, my teammates. I love them. I love Buff Nation,” said Offerdahl.

Talking about how it felt in the moment when he was running to the end zone, he said:
“I followed my offensive line, got in there. I didn’t know how to celebrate. I was just so hyped; it was amazing.”
Offerdahl had never scored a touchdown in his previous three years at Colorado. He was a Scout Team Player of the Year in 2021 and redshirted that season. The following year, he gained 150 yards on 37 carries and two receptions in 12 games. Last season, however, he only had possession of the ball twice in eight games and ended his campaign with an injury.
Coach Prime on Offerdahl
When Sanders took over as the Buffaloes’ head coach in December 2022, he revamped nearly his entire roster and brought in several five-star recruits, as well as his own players and staff. Forty-six players from the original roster left for the transfer portal, but Offerdahl remained.
According to CU Buff Zone, Coach Prime talked of Offerdahl and his touchdown:
“My highlight of the game was Charlie Offerdahl getting into the end zone. We made that an initiative at the beginning of the week that we were going to get Charlie in the paint, no matter what, and the young men on that (offensive) line, they took that serious. The staff took it serious.
“We only had one attempt to try it, and he got it there on the first one, which was wonderful. I’m proud of Charlie, of who he is, and how he represents this program as a 4.0 student.”
Offerdahl has 103 yards heading into this season with 22 carries and one touchdown to his name.
