Picture this: Chad Ochocinco serving up advice like a tennis pro aiming for the perfect rally. This time, his target? Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson. His suggestion: Take the Chicago Bears’ HC job, and help develop their young QB, Caleb Williams.
Ochocinco’s call is a bold one — like an unexpected underdog pick at Wimbledon — but with the Bears’ future on the line, it could be the perfect game plan.
Ben Johnson is the Key to Unlocking Caleb Williams’ Potential
On the “Nightcap” podcast, Ochocinco threw down the gauntlet to Lions OC Johnson, urging him to take the head coaching job in Chicago and save their QB situation.
But Ochocinco’s not really talking about the Bears’ woes; he’s talking about Williams. The 46-year-old’s plea? Johnson is the only one who can unleash Williams’ potential and, in the process, turn the Bears around.
Why Johnson, though? The former champ sees a creative offensive mind in the same vein as Andy Reid. The Bears need more than a generic coach; they need someone with a true vision to develop a superstar like Williams.
“I think about the coaches that are out there, they had Pete Caroll’s name in it, but from a creativity standpoint, understanding the skill set and how special Caleb Williams is having someone that can come in there and get the most out of his potential and what he’s able to do,” the ex-WR alluded,
Ochocinco continued, “Ben Johnson, I know you going to see this clip… if you have an opportunity, please not only save that franchise but save Caleb Williams. I mean, you’re one of the few offensive coordinators who are similar to Andy Reid, who has the creative prowess from an offensive standpoint that can get him to his full potential and turn the Bears organization around I mean, somebody got to do it and he’s the only one I can think of.”
The urgency in his voice wasn’t just for the Bears; it was for Williams, whose future could be seriously impacted by the wrong coaching hire.
The Bears have struggled with quarterback play for years. The QB carousel has been a disaster, and Williams doesn’t need to get caught in that mess.
Ochocinco is putting it out there: if anyone can rescue the Bears and elevate Williams to greatness, it’s Johnson. He’s the one with the creativity, the track record, and the innovative playcalling to shape a future star.
Chad Ochocinco Discusses Steelers’ Locker Room Tension
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense is unraveling – not just on-field, but in the locker room too. The team’s struggles, including leaving receivers wide open in the end zone and a painful three-game losing streak, have exposed deeper issues.
Recently, players have aired frustrations about a lack of unity, raising the question: is this a sign of trouble, or just growing pains?
Ochocinco isn’t buying the drama. On the “Nightcap” podcast, he backed Mike Tomlin to handle the situation, saying, “Mike gonna nip that in the bud. Mike gonna play that down.”
Johnson noted it’s rare for Tomlin’s players to voice frustration publicly. Even when stars like Minkah Fitzpatrick raised concerns last year, Tomlin handled it swiftly.
But while Ochocinco trusts Tomlin to settle the tension, he warns against airing grievances about teammates’ performance in public. For the Steelers, the focus needs to be on healing, not airing dirty laundry.
