Arizona Wildcats Secure Commitment From the Son of an NFL Personality

The Wildcats secured the commitment from in-state safety James Pike in their 2026 class. He has announced his commitment to the school via social media.

“Blessed to say I have committed to the University of Arizona!! #AMDG #BST @jason247scout @FootballBrophy,” Pike tweeted.

Pike attends Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Arizona, and is the son of the Arizona Cardinals vice president, Nicole Bidwill. Nicole is the daughter of Bill Bidwill, the late owner of the Cardinals. “My son, @james_pike31, has committed to the University of Arizona! I am so extremely proud of him! BEAR DOWN!” she tweeted following her son’s commitment.

Pike’s NFL connection runs deep, as his uncle, Michael Bidwill, is the team owner of the Cardinals. Through nine games this season, the 6-foot-0, 185-pound safety has recorded 61 total tackles (4.5 tackles for loss) and two sacks. He recorded 112 total tackles (9.5 tackles for loss), three interceptions, six pass deflections, and a fumble recovery in his junior and senior seasons.

Notably, Pike was also among 10 Arizona high school football players to record PSAs on suicide prevention and shared his viewpoint on this initiative.

“It’s really important to get a message out to help kids struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts,” Pike said in September. “I think that’s one of the most important things that I can do. It’s not easy being a high school kid. There are a lot of things. Family problems. There’s school going on. It’s not easy being a teenager nowadays.”

With his commitment, Pike becomes the No. 21 player in the Wildcats’ 2026 recruiting class and joins interior offensive lineman Malachi Joyner and safety Hamisi Juma as an in-state player.

Pike is also the fourth defensive back in the class, joining Juma, Griffin Tillis, and Xaier Hiler. This class is headlined by four-star quarterback Oscar Rios.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are ranked No. 23rd in the PFSN CFB Team Impact metric, with their three losses this season. They are now looking to stretch their winning streak in the game against Kansas next weekend.

The upcoming battle will be a tough one for the Wildcats as Kansas is 5-4 this season, including a 3-3 record in Big 12 play. The school is fresh off a phenomenal 38-21 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday.
