Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin led the No. 6 Rebels to a dominant 49-0 win over the Citadel Bulldogs in Week 11 of college football action. The win improved the Rebels to 9-1 for the season and enhanced their chances of clinching a college football playoff berth for the first time.
Despite Kiffin being linked to several vacant college football jobs, including the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers head coaching positions, the speculation has not stopped the Rebels juggernaut that has only narrowly lost to the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs this season.

Kiffin Addresses Departure Rumors
For the second consecutive season, Kiffin has been strongly linked to the Florida Gators’ head coaching position. During his postgame news conference after the win against Citadel, Kiffin addressed whether Florida fans would cheer him when the Gators visit the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium during the clash against the Rebels in Week 12Â action.
“I don’t think (fans will cheer),” Lane Kiffin said. “I think that people run pretty true to their schools when it comes to cheering in the game.
“I don’t read all the stuff. Somebody was just saying that today, one of our student assistants explained to me, the fans are going back and forth. And they said, ‘I think there’s a new rivalry, Ole Miss fans and Florida fans, and they should just put a steel cage somewhere and let them fight it out.’ Maybe at halftime of the game.”
After the Rebels’ win against the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 9, which was win No. 7 of the season, Kiffin’s contract was automatically extended by a year through 2031, and he will earn $9 million annually, the sixth-highest salary in the SEC. According to USA TODAY, Kiffin has a $36.6 million buyout, which is the 15th highest in college football.
