Five-star DL prospect Jalen Brewster is one of Oregon Ducks’ top targets in the 2027 class, and Dan Lanning is ensuring the Ducks stay in close pursuit. With four-star Cam Pritchett committed out of Thompson High School in Alabama, Oregon continues to build a dominant defensive front. They won’t slow down in their effort to land elite talent.

Oregon’s HC Dan Lanning Goes Viral in Message to 5-Star Recruit Jalen Brewster
Brewster picked up an offer from Oregon on Feb. 28, and since then, the Ducks have been actively recruiting him. On Friday, July 4, Lanning even sent Brewster a personalized video message:

“Jalen, what’s up, brother? Down here at the lake, enjoying some time with family. Just thinking about you and your crew, and how much fun we had when you were up here on campus with us. So, I hope you have a great 4th of July. Let me know what you’re cooking, man. Have a good one.”
Brewster may not have announced a decision timeline, but his recruiting stock continues to rise. Widely considered one of the hottest prospects in the 2026 cycle, Brewster has been lighting up boards across the country.
Since June, elite programs like Notre Dame, Michigan, and Kansas State have entered the race with fresh offers. They add to an already stacked list that includes Auburn, Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and USC.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Brewster is the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2026 class and the No. 8 overall recruit nationwide. His athleticism has been on full display; he’s even lined up as an RB in high school, scoring four rushing touchdowns during the 2024 season.
This spring, Brewster made an unofficial visit to Eugene and offered glowing remarks about the Ducks’ program in a conversation with On3:
“It was my first time at Oregon, and what stood out to me were the facilities and the coaches. Oregon has everything you need to make it to the league, and the staff treated me like family.”
He returned on June 1, doubling his praise for Lanning’s staff and what the program offers. As of now, Oklahoma leads the recruitment race with a 43.7% chance of landing Brewster, according to On3’s prediction model, while Oregon currently sits at 7.3%.

Still, with several high school seasons and visits ahead, the Ducks remain in play, and if HC Lanning’s team can capitalize on future interactions, that percentage could shift in their favor.
