Cleveland Browns fans are anticipating the return of wide receiver Cedric Tillman, who’s been absent since Week 5. The third-year wideout out of Tennessee suffered an injury during Week 4 and hasn’t seen any action for five weeks.
People are wondering about the receiver’s injury status, so let’s explore the latest available information on Tillman ahead of Week 10.
Will Cedric Tillman Play in the Browns’ Week 10 Game Against the Jets
Things are looking up for Tillman as the team approaches its next matchup versus the New York Jets. Optimistically, the wideout is practicing, which is a huge boost of confidence for his Week 10 injury status.
Trouble initially reared its head shortly after the Browns’ win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, when the receiver surfaced on the team’s midweek injury report as a limited participant in practice due to a hand issue. The next day, his hip also gave him problems, again limiting him in practice.
However, he worked through the issues and avoided an injury designation for their game against the Detroit Lions in Week 4. Unfortunately, his luck didn’t last, as a hamstring injury saw the end of his outing versus Detroit, in which he recorded six yards on one catch. Isaiah Bond, Jamari Thrash, and DeAndre Carter filled in for him behind Jerry Jeudy.
The following Monday, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Tillman will be out for “weeks” with his hamstring injury, leaving Bond in line to take up WR2 duties since Carter had knee issues. Tillman was added to the IR the next day, with the expectation that he’ll only be able to return against the Jets in Week 10.
The wideout was cleared to practice on Monday, paving the way for him to possibly feature against New York. Training staff will, however, evaluate him to determine whether he is, in fact, healthy enough to play.
The Browns could certainly do with their receiver, who’s recorded 11 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns in four games this season. The team, currently last in PFSN’s NFL Team OLi metrics, is stuck at 2-6; however, oddly enough, it’s only two wins away from taking second place in the AFC North. The 5-3 Pittsburgh Steelers run the division this year, and the 3-5 Baltimore Ravens are barely hanging on to second place.
If Cleveland can pull together its offense under rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, the team might have a shot at finishing the campaign in a respectable position in the division.
