It wasn’t pretty, but the Green Bay Packers got the job done. After back-to-back losses, the team needed to find its footing, and the New York Giants seemed like the perfect opponents to get back on track. However, with two ugly losses on their resume, it was hard to trust this team.
But a Jaxson Dart-less Giants squad wasn’t able to hold its own against them. Ultimately, they were able to prevail against an injury-ravaged roster for their sixth win of the season. And it’s left them some hope for the divisional crown in the vaunted NFC North.
Packers Still Have a Chance to Win the NFC North
A potential Super Bowl contender, Green Bay has been plagued by inconsistency throughout the year. With losses against the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns, it was hard to buy into the hype.
Then, consecutive losses dropped them into third place within their division, further worsening their chances of a playoff push. Facing New York, they had to find their rhythm again.
With their opponents missing their starting quarterback, running back, and top two wide receivers, it should have been easy picking for Green Bay. However, the result was anything but.
Crawling their way to a 27-20 victory, a strip sack by superstar trade acquisition Micah Parsons won them the game in the final few seconds. It put them at a 6-3-1 record and kept them in the thick of the playoff race.

It also gave them hope for a chance to win the division. Even though the Chicago Bears were the one-seed in the division after their win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers still controlled their own destiny, with both games remaining against Chicago.
That was reflected in their chances of winning the NFC North. According to PFSN’s Playoff Predictor, their chances stood at 29.50%. Moreover, it seemed like the postseason was firmly within their grasp as well, as they had a 64.10% chance to get there.
The game was critical for the franchise to rectify its mistakes from the last few weeks. But it was also a significant hurdle for Jordan Love to overcome, who, despite the overall numbers, had looked far from excellent through the first nine games.
After going without a touchdown in the last two weeks, he finally found the end zone on two separate occasions, despite exiting the game early in the first quarter with a shoulder injury before returning in the second quarter.
