Cam Ward’s draft stock continues to rise after an impressive showing at Miami’s Pro Day. The quarterback displayed his arm strength, deep-ball accuracy, and even flashed some receiving skills.
When asked about potentially being the No. 1 overall pick, Ward downplayed it. But his confident message to the Tennessee Titans after one standout throw told a different story.

Cam Ward Had Words for the Titans During Workout
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe and Brian Baldinger spoke with Ward following the event and asked for his thoughts on the draft. Despite emerging as a top candidate to go first overall in April, Ward kept his focus elsewhere.
“I never really thought about it, honestly. I’m just blessed to be in the position. For all 32 teams to be here, not only for myself but for my teammates. So I’ve been blessed, and so, you know, it hasn’t sunk in yet, but I’m excited for the future.”

Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker and General Manager Mike Borgonzi were in attendance for Ward’s workout. After making a particularly impressive throw, Ward appeared to say something in their direction—and Wolfe asked him about it.
“I said, ‘I’m solidifying it today,'” Ward revealed. When asked if the Titans’ brass heard him, he added: “I made sure they heard me.”
Titans “Are Going to Have Trade Options,” Says Ian Rapoport
NFL insider Ian Rapoport posted a video confirming the exchange between Ward and the Titans’ leadership. But when it comes to the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, he cautioned that things remain fluid.
“As far as I can tell, the Titans have not yet made the firm and final decision on who they’re gonna take. They are gonna have trade options, no doubt. Giants would of course be one. I think the Saints would probably be another.”
The New York Giants’ need for a quarterback is clear, with Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito currently the only options on the roster. While they await a decision from veteran free agent Aaron Rodgers, general manager Joe Schoen is under pressure to find the team’s next franchise signal-caller.
The New Orleans Saints haven’t been closely tied to a top quarterback in this year’s draft, but Rapoport’s mention of them hints at possible movement. Derek Carr has two years left on his contract and, due to the money involved, is unlikely to be traded. Still, New Orleans’ presence in the quarterback conversation is notable.
It’s becoming more likely that the No. 1 pick will be used on Ward. Whether the Titans are still the ones making that selection remains to be seen.
