After winning their first game of the 2025 season in Week 4, the New York Giants were looking to build on their momentum. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen, and the Giants fell to the previously winless New Orleans Saints.
The 26-14 loss came with a mistake-laden performance by New York at Caesars Superdome, with the Saints claiming the win despite posting fewer total yards and first downs. In fact, one of the Giants’ most costly errors came early in the fourth quarter when a rookie running back fumbled the ball for the first time in his career.

To begin the fourth quarter, the Giants trailed 19-14 and found themselves in the red zone, looking to take the lead. However, Skattebo received a handoff before Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee punched the ball out of his hand. New Orleans safety Jordan Howden then recovered the fumble and took it 86 yards for another touchdown, increasing the Giants’ deficit.
This was one of five Giants turnovers and three fumbles on the day. Quarterback Jaxson Dart and Darius Slayton also lost the ball, with Dart being picked off an additional two times.

The defensive touchdown made it a 26–14 game, which would stand as the final score.
Postgame, Skattebo took to his X account to apologize to Giants fans for his role in Sunday’s loss.
“Sorry giants fans!!! I’ll be better for yall!!!! Love!!!” Skattebo said.

The Giants have been rocking with a rookie backfield consisting of Skattebo and Dart for the last few games, securing their first career win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 (Dart’s first career start).
Skattebo has impressed through his first five league games, tallying 240 rushing yards and two touchdowns with another 143 receiving yards on 18 catches. His elite pass blocking has also been a topic of conversation for Giants fans.
He was drafted as a fourth-round pick (No. 105 overall) by the Giants in 2025. Overall, the Giants have the 27th-ranked offense of the year so far according to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric.
The New York Giants and Skattebo now turn their attention to a Week 6 edition of “Thursday Night Football,” which sees them facing off against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.
