Where Are The Two Teams Standing Heading Into Week 5?
The Bills’ defense struggled early in the season, allowing 40 points in the opener and 21 to the Miami Dolphins. Without a costly Tua Tagovailoa interception, the Dolphins game could have been much closer. Still, Buffalo managed to pull out the win and followed it up with a Week 4 victory over the Saints, improving to a perfect 4-0 record.
Defensive concerns persisted against New Orleans, as the Saints stayed within striking distance for much of the game. However, it was a furious fourth-quarter rally that ultimately put the Bills over the top and gave them a 31-19 victory. Allen is showing why he is the reigning NFL MVP, and Buffalo has the top-ranked offense in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, which is making up for the defense’s struggles.
The Patriots, meanwhile, had a mixed start to the season. After losing the opener to the Raiders, they bounced back with a Week 2 win over the Dolphins, thanks in large part to a dominant performance by their offensive line. Week 3, however, was a disaster against the Steelers, as five turnovers, including four lost fumbles, proved costly in a 21-14 loss.
However, the Patriots rebounded in a big way in Week 4, dominating the Panthers in all three facets of the game to earn a 42-13 win.
An 87-yard return touchdown, two scores from Maye, who finished an absurd 14-of-17 on pass attempts, and two rushing touchdowns told the story of a commanding victory for New England that put them at 2-2 on the season and entered them into the top-ten of PFSN’s Offense Impact metric.
