Shedeur Sanders has been the most talked-about player in the NFL this season for many reasons. Most recently, the Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback made the news for speeding.
While the headlines continue to swirl, Sanders attended teammate David Njoku’s charity softball game and was given some words of encouragement by some young fans.
Shedeur Sanders Finishes His Tough Week On a High
Character concerns and the potential media distraction he could cause are thought to be the reasons for Sanders’ dramatic draft-weekend slide. It’s been less than two months since the Browns drafted the Colorado product, yet both issues have already been evident.
The quarterback has been one of the main focuses of the NFL during the offseason and has made positive headlines with some reportedly impressive performances in camp. That momentum with the press was halted, though, by his latest off-field error. Having clearly put teams off with his pre-draft behavior, there is a concern that Sanders isn’t taking his reputation seriously enough.
Those recent headlines won’t be enough to silence the buzz of anticipation surrounding Sanders in Cleveland, though. The quarterback was rumored to be the team’s choice with the second overall pick in the draft, and that excitement is still alive. While signing autographs at the charity event, Sanders was given some words of encouragement by some enthusiastic young fans.
Special: Shedeur Sanders has all the kids in Cleveland shouting at him that he’s the QB1 for the Browns 😂

One fan, in particular, had plenty to say, calling Sanders “the QB1” and “the G.O.A.T.,” while another predicted that the quarterback would take Cleveland to a Super Bowl in 2025. Sanders enjoyed the energy of the two boys and turned to the camera to declare that one of them should be his motivational speaker.
“I need him to be my motivator; I need to listen to him every day.”
Sanders Facing Severe Media Backlash For Speeding Violation
With many unconvinced of Sanders’ leadership qualities, his speeding violation has raised some red flags. NFL players having run-ins with the law is nothing new, and the quarterback’s recent faux pas is nothing compared to some of the issues the league has faced.
Nevertheless, with star wide receivers Jordan Addison and Rashee Rice both facing possible suspensions for similar offenses already, it was a silly mistake to make. Sanders is locked in a four-way quarterback competition and, as a rookie, needs to prove that he can be the face of the Browns organization.
It’s easy to forget how young these players are when they enter the league, but after promising to “change the culture” of his new team, Sanders needs to grow up fast.
