Two-way phenom Travis Hunter is yet to play as an NFL player, and he is already getting Hall-of-Fame-level comparisons. More importantly, Hunter is garnering this praise from an NFL team’s general manager with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry opened up on Hunter’s abilities being more special than those of previous Hall of Fame two-way players like Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey.

Andrew Berry on Travis Hunter’s ‘Misguided’ Comparison
For Berry, Hunter’s skills overshadow Woodson’s and Bailey’s, some of the best ever to play the receiving position in the NFL books.
“I think one of the more misguided comparisons is when people talk about Travis [Hunter] relative to, and with all due respect because all these guys are Hall of Famers, to Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey, right?” Berry said.
Berry argues that Hunter’s stats supersede Woodson and Bailey, even if they were from an entirely different era of college football. Woodson had 21 catches and 16 passes in his three-year college career and even won the Heisman. Bailey, on the other hand, had 59 receptions and 978 receiving yards for five touchdowns.
“Travis, in the last two years alone, was fifth in the nation receiving, led the Big 12 for 96 catches, 15 touchdowns, 7 career picks; like truly was a full-time player on both sides of the ball. This year alone, he had more catches, yards, and touchdowns than both Charles and Champ combined in their three years. And that’s why I see it a little bit more different than those guys.”

The key factor in Hunter’s career is he had impressive stats lined up on both sides of the ball, making his case to be a two-way player more strong. In his college career, Hunter recorded 153 receptions for 1,989 yards and 20 touchdowns on the offense.
On the defense, he finished with 67 tackles, 48 solo and three for a loss, seven interceptions for 55 yards, 16 pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
Whichever team would draft Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft would have massive potential to make the next historic NFL player, given they agree to let him play on both sides of the ball.
Cleveland has the No. 2 overall pick, and their most urgent roster need is drafting a quarterback. Per PFSN’s 2025 NFL Mock Draft, they are highly likely to draft Sheduer Sanders.
However, given Berry’s crucial and highly positive assessment of Hunter, the Browns taking Hunter right off the board at No. 2 would hardly come as a surprise.
