Broncos Predicted To Improve Bo Nix’s Supporting Cast By Acquiring 14-TD Superstar WR This Offseason

After finishing with their best record since their Super Bowl 50 victory, the Denver Broncos are clearly on the rise. The team ended the 2024 season at 10-7, with rookie quarterback Bo Nix leading the way. Starting all 17 games, Nix threw for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns, showing impressive poise and the ability to manage the game.

But if Denver wants to win the Super Bowl, the offense must be able to compete with truly elite quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. To best position themselves for that leap, one analyst predicts that the Broncos will acquire New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson.

Denver Broncos Could Trade for Garrett Wilson as WR1 To Boost Bo Nix’s Arsenal

Before the Jets announced they were finally moving on from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, there was speculation that Wilson would request a trade because of his relationship with the four-time MVP. That’s easy to believe given the attention receiver Davante Adams saw in the second half of the season while the offense stumbled to the finish line.

However, with Rodgers set to be released, tensions around a trade request have diminished. But this is the offseason, and anything can happen, especially for a team with potentially disillusioned stars. If he does request a trade, Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports boldly predicts the Broncos will make a move for him.

“Garrett Wilson’s future with the New York Jets is unclear at this point, and if he’s available via trade, every team with a WR1 need should be calling about him. … “The Ohio State product has surpassed 1,000 yards receiving in each of his three NFL seasons, and is one of just seven wide receivers all time to catch 80 passes in each of his first three seasons. Keep in mind he’s done so with incredible quarterback turnover.

“Our prediction is that Wilson is dealt to the Broncos to serve as Bo Nix’s new No. 1 wideout. Someone who can both stretch the field, and move the chains with his ability to dodge defenders.”

Despite a surprising playoff run that ended in the Wild Card Round, the Broncos’ offense had its issues in 2024, finishing the year with a PFSN Offense+ grade of 75.3 (C). That ranked 16th in the NFL and stands to improve with upgraded weaponry. Receiver Courtland Sutton saw 80 more targets and 40 more receptions than Devaughn Vele, the team’s second-most-targeted wide receiver. Adding Wilson to complement Sutton and give Nix an added boost underneath could pay massive dividends.

Denver ranked 28th in rushing touchdown percentage (25%), 24th in rushing touchdowns per game (0.7), and 20th in rush yards per attempt (4.2). Those could improve greatly with Wilson in the fold given his ability to stretch the field and keep the offense ahead of the sticks, indirectly adding to the ground game.
