Bo Nix, Patrick Mahomes, and fans of the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs now know where they’ll be on Dec. 25. The NFL announced a Christmas Day matchup between the AFC West rivals, set to take place in what could be a snowy Kansas City.
It’s officially the Broncos’ biggest regular-season game of the year, giving Nix, Sean Payton, and Andy Reid more than seven months to prepare. Analysts are already weighing in, and Bo Nix’s wife, Izzy Nix, was quick to join the reaction.
Bo Nix’s Wife Reacts to Broncos-Chiefs Scheduled Showdown
On May 13, Izzy reposted the Week 17 schedule release on Instagram with a festive reaction.
“Merry Christmas,” she wrote, with a Christmas tree emoji.
The game is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 25, at 8:15 p.m. ET and will air on Prime Video. While the league didn’t confirm if it will be exclusive to streaming, past trends suggest it likely will be.
Some games on Prime have also been made available via Twitch on mobile devices, though it’s unclear whether that will be the case for this game.
Nix Offered Chance To Do What Russell Wilson Could Not
Christmas games haven’t been kind to the Broncos in recent years. Often out of playoff contention by December, holiday matchups have served as harsh reminders of missed expectations.
But this time feels different. Bo is coming off a playoff appearance, and the Payton-led Broncos continue to reshape the team after a rough post-Peyton Manning stretch.
Bo’s predecessor, Russell Wilson, took one of the worst holiday beatings in recent memory, losing 51-14 to a Baker Mayfield-led Rams team on Christmas in 2022. That game marked the end of the Nathaniel Hackett era.
Now, the Broncos head to Kansas City for what could be another season-defining game. Denver beat the Chiefs at home in Week 18 of 2024 but lost a heartbreaker earlier in the season at Arrowhead, thanks to a blocked field goal on the final play.
Bo will aim to avenge that loss. Mahomes, meanwhile, will look to make sure the game stays firmly in his control. The Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and Mahomes is likely to be supremely motivated to get his group back on top.
Kansas City has won the AFC West nine consecutive times, starting in the 2016 NFL season.
Will the Broncos finally snap their losing streak in Kansas City, dating back to 2015, and do it on Christmas night?
