Bills Star Sends Bold Message to Buffalo’s Front Offices Urging Them To Acquire $125,000,000 ‘Game-Changer’

Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins continued his public recruitment of Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, this time making his pitch on “Good Morning Football,” on NFL Network.

Dion Dawkins’ Plea for the Bills To Trade for Myles Garrett

In a two-minute clip from his “Good Morning Football” appearance, Dawkins made a strong case for Buffalo to trade for the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, saying, “[Brandon Beane]’s known as ‘Big Baller Beane’ for a reason.”

Dawkins stressed the limited window the Bills are working with, explaining, “With knowing the ownership, knowing the [Bills owners] Pegulas, knowing [head coach Sean] McDermott, knowing Beane, knowing the team, knowing the ages of Josh [Allen], knowing the ages of me, knowing the ages of the dynamic of our team, they understand what’s going on.”

The four-time Pro Bowl lineman then pushed Buffalo’s front office to make financial moves to acquire Garrett.

“I don’t ever want to take shots at the big dogs, but you know the big dogs gotta…move that chessboard around and repaint those pictures in a sense of restructuring and figuring out how we can have a little bit more confetti to pay. ‘Cause when it comes down to it, it sucks, but it’s a money game of how you play it.”

When asked how the Bills could pull off such a deal, Dawkins had an answer: restructuring contracts.

“Restructure. Pull some of that out, do this, do that. Or have a conversation with one of the guys and be like, ‘It’s never been done, trust me, or this and that, blah blah blah…where you’re one of us and, you know, believe in us. We can help you out.’ Who knows? I’m just saying somebody’s gotta make some magic happen, some Houdini tricks, some contract tricks.”

Dawkins even offered to restructure his own deal, saying, “I’m willing for them to go in my book and play with every little bit of things. I want the guy with us. I want to win. And Josh wants to win. The guys want to win. I’m my own speaker for saying that I want Myles with us. I play against the guy. I know what type of character he is. I know what type of player he is. I know the type of fear he brings on the football field.”

He continued, emphasizing how Garrett would improve Buffalo’s roster.

“With the team we have, you add a couple of extra stars, pieces like that, it’s a drastic game-changer. Then the guys in the room are going to get better. Then the guys on the opposite side are going to get better. All the tackles—Spencer, me. The younger guys, they’re gonna get better, they’re gonna go against him. I’m gonna go against him.”

Dawkins ended his pitch with a memorable analogy.

“I’m in Year 9, and I can get drastically better by having someone like that. I already get better with Von [Miller] and A.J. [Epenesa] and Greg [Rousseau]. I’m getting better with these guys that we have. But with someone like that, that’s like going from a Benz to a Bentley.”

Dawkins Has Long Wanted Garrett in Buffalo

This isn’t the first time Dawkins has publicly campaigned for the Bills to acquire Garrett. During Super Bowl week, when asked to pick one player to add to Buffalo’s roster, he emphatically chose Garrett.

“Come rock with us. Let’s win a Super Bowl.”

That same week, Good Morning Football’s Kyle Brandt asked Dawkins about the possibility of Garrett joining the Bills. Once again, Dawkins made his case.

“Hey Myles… come and rock wit’ your boy! We have a chance to do something great. If we had you this year, you never know. You could’ve had that game-changing play. But, look, bro, we love you. I love you. I need you here in Orchard Park.”

Garrett’s Future and Buffalo’s Championship Aspirations

Garrett has expressed his desire to play for a contender, prioritizing a team that can help him win a Super Bowl rather than simply chasing the biggest contract. With two years remaining on his deal, his focus is on finding the right situation.

Buffalo, meanwhile, has dealt with playoff heartbreak in recent seasons and is eager to take the next step. Adding a player of Garrett’s caliber would significantly increase the Bills’ chances of overcoming that final hurdle.

Dawkins’ recruitment efforts reflect the team’s urgency to win now while its championship window remains open.
