For the fourth time since Josh Allen took over the reins of the franchise, the Buffalo Bills bowed out to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs this past season. While the Bills were going through a soft reboot, their year went by as well as anyone could have imagined.
With a better supporting cast around their MVP, Buffalo will be hoping to get over the Kansas City hump and potentially reach the Super Bowl for the first time in three decades. However, one analyst believes they could add another piece to secure that future dream.

Buffalo Bills Urged To Focus on Defense
Last year, thanks to the incredible dual threat of Josh Allen and an excellent season from running back James Cook leading the charge, the Bills had one of the five best offenses on PFSN’s Offense+ metric. During the season, they had eight consecutive 30+ point outings.
But their Achilles’ heel was the defense. Ranking 18th on PFSN’s Defense+ metric, the unit couldn’t secure enough stops. Ultimately, it cost them a chance at a Super Bowl appearance, as their season ended in the AFC Championship Game.
As a result, out of the remaining free agents, PFSN wants them to target Justin Simmons after he spent last year with the Atlanta Falcons. A four-time All-Pro selection, he was last selected just two years ago and was the league’s interceptions leader just a year prior.
While Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, and Colin Bishop might be their main crew at the safety position, Brandon Austin wrote, “Now is not the time to be complacent.” While Austin acknowledged his shortcomings at 31, he cited Simmons’ experience as an invaluable commodity, particularly for a team that is aiming for the title.
“The Super Bowl window doesn’t last forever, and while Simmons may not be the player he once was, he could provide a much-needed boost to a defense that finished 26th in the NFL in pass defense success rate (51.9%).”
Moreover, during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show alongside NFL analyst Kay Adams, the two-time Pro Bowl selection had the Buffalo Bills at the top of the list of teams he would love to join.
Bills, Eagles, Bengals.
4x All-Pro safety Justin Simmons says, “it would be special” to sign with one of these teams. Where should he go?@heykayadams | @jsimms1119 pic.twitter.com/l5Mo2WzNdy

Alongside the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles, he claimed “it would be special” to join those rosters. For the veteran’s safety, the focus is clearly on deep playoff runs and postseason appearances.
With all three teams definitely in the contenders category, it is clear that Simmons wants January and February football on his resume. With a slew of draft picks and free agent moves dedicated to the secondary, adding a proven veteran like the former Denver Broncos superstar might be a shrewd move for Buffalo.
