Bill Belichick is widely considered to be one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history. With 333 career wins, the 73-year-old is second only to Don Shula (347) on the all-time win list. A defensive mastermind, Belichick won two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator with the New York Giants. Then, as a head coach, he took the New England Patriots to nine Super Bowls, winning six of them.
Belichick and the Patriots parted ways after the 2023 season, and now the legendary coach is headed to the NCAA to coach at the University of North Carolina, where his father ran the sidelines in the 1950s. While many are curious to see how Belichick will handle the transition to college coaching, he is getting more attention for his love life.
Recently, Belichick defended his relationship with girlfriend Jordon Hudson during an interview with Michael Strahan that aired on “Good Morning America.”
NFL Legend Bill Belichick Shares the Truth Behind His Relationship With Jordon Hudson
Belichick has appeared on numerous shows to promote his new book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.” While on GMA, Strahan said that he has seen Belichick transform his personality by doing things he thought he’d never see him do, like signing up for TV interviews and sharing his personal life on social media.
Strahan mentioned another new development: Belichick’s personal life has spilled over into his professional life, which never happened prior to 2025. Strahan asked the North Carolina coach what he thinks about the attention his romantic relationship has been getting.
“She’s been through the whole process. She’s been very helpful to me,” Belichick said, referring to the way Hudson has been managing his business affairs. “She does the business things that don’t relate to North Carolina, that come up in my life so I can concentrate on football, and that’s really what I want to do.”
Belichick said one way she helped tremendously was in regard to editing his memoir. He trusted Hudson’s opinions and suggestions to ensure the book flowed smoothly, especially for the non-football reader.

“I acknowledged her in the book,” Belichick said. “She was very helpful with that, with the tribute page, and also giving a perspective of the book from a business side. Sometimes I get a little football technical. She did a good job keeping me on balance.”
Not everyone agrees that the 24-year-old former cheerleader has been “helpful” to the 73-year-old head coach. One of Belichick’s former players, Cam Newton, recently expressed concerns over the distraction their relationship has created.
“Don’t be a distraction” was Belichick’s number one rule when he was coaching the Patriots, according to Newton. The former NFL quarterback feels that is precisely what the old ball coach does with Hudson, adding a suggestion to Belichick: “date your age.”
