Atlanta Falcons star Bijan Robinson opened up about his unique relationship with Hollywood icon and Texas fan Matthew McConaughey. During an appearance on NBC Sports’ “Dan Patrick Show,” Robinson shared why McConaughey, despite being a mentor and “like a brother” to him, has yet to offer him a big movie role.
Bijan Robinson Learning From Oscar-Winning Legend
Robinson, a Longhorn alumni himself, mentioned that McConaughey often gives him acting advice. “He gives me tips and pointers all the time,” Robinson said, hinting that the Oscar winner has been a guide to him.
“I always ask some questions on how to become a better actor, especially like in the offseason. [McConaughey’s not giving me movie roles] Because like he knows that I’m in season and doing things. But definitely when I have time to open that window and that slide up, then we’ll definitely be talking about it.” [02:00]
However, Robinson surprised fans with a cameo in Season 4 of Outer Banks last month, appearing as a character named Warrick in the season’s second episode. The brief appearance created a buzz, with fans thrilled to spot the NFL star in the popular series.
While Robinson’s acting journey is just beginning, one can see that his bond with McConaughey promises more Hollywood opportunities once the season ends. Robinson’s focus remains on the Falcons for now, but who knows what McConaughey might have up his sleeve when the offseason arrives.
Bijan Robinson Is Team Falcons All the Way
The 22-year-old running back feels the hype surrounding his team’s 2024 season. After Atlanta’s 27-21 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, Robinson declared that the Falcons have the best offense in the NFC, even outmatching contenders like the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.
“The Lions are playing great, Philly is playing great,” Robinson said on The Dan Patrick Show. “But I feel like we have a lot of threats on this team, and it’s starting to open up and get better every week.
“I think there’s a lot of great teams but I feel like we have the team that’s playing good, playing positive and hopefully we just continue to keep on rolling,” he continued. [02:30]
The Falcons currently sit at 6-3, their best record since their Super Bowl run in 2016. There’s no denying that head coach Raheem Morris and his men are in firm control of the NFC South with an undefeated 4-0 record in the division.
Atlanta has won five of its last six games, positioning itself as a playoff contender.
It’s a bold claim from Robinson, but with a high-powered offense and a favorable schedule, the Falcons could indeed be staring down something big come January. ESPN’s Football Power Index backs Robinson’s confidence, giving Atlanta a 76.6% chance to reach the playoffs and a 70.8% chance to capture the NFC South crown.
