Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is receiving major praise from the NFL world over his electric performance throughout the 2024 season. However, his contract extension with the Bengals still remains a topic of discussion.
Ja’Marr Chase and Cincinnati Bengals Contract Saga Continues
While the Bengals had the perfect opportunity to lock Chase down during the offseason, many analysts and players think they made a huge mistake by not doing so.
With the season in full swing, Chase’s performance remains unstoppable, particularly highlighted by his remarkable showing against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10, when he caught 11 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns.
Chase has now secured 981 yards and 10 touchdowns under 10 games, giving him a fair chance of making it his best year yet.
Agreeing with this notion, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. expressed his thoughts on the matter:
“I bet they wish they had [paid him]. Week by week, that boy showing folks like, why they should’ve just went ahead and cut the check, man. Because now the Brinks truck gonna be more than one. It’s gonna be about two.
“With how he’s playing, now it’s [Chase’s contract value] just going to get bigger and bigger. Now you’re going to have another problem this offseason as far as, like, how much do you pay him.”
These eclectic stats do not help the Bengals’ case in securing Chase’s future, as his asking price would now naturally be much more than what it was in the offseason.
Tom Brady Lauds Chase’s Electric Performance Against Ravens
Samuel isn’t the only one riding the Chase train. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady also couldn’t stop raving about Chase’s impressive playing abilities. While choosing three players who stood out to him the most, Brady named Lamar Jackson, Leo Chenal, and Chase as this week’s winners.
Brady said about the former LSU star, “He went off on Thursday night against the Ravens. I’m talking video game-type numbers. He had 264 yards on 11 catches. Nobody can stop this guy. Ja’Marr has been balling out this year. He’s going for the receiving triple crown,” Brady said.
“I didn’t even know that was a thing. But leading the league in catches, yards, and receiving touchdowns would be it. Unfortunately, it was a tough loss. They lost a close one. But they’re in LA this week against the Chargers. Let’s see if they can get back on track.” Brady continued.
The Bengals will now go head to head against the Jim Harbaugh-led Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.
