Bears Predicted To Give Ben Johnson Fun New Toy by Adding 6’1”, 23-TD ‘Thumping’ RB in 2025 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears are eager to turn the page after finishing last season with a disappointing 5-12 record. The team has already made a big move this offseason in hiring former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new head coach. Now, with eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, including No. 10 overall, the Bears have the perfect opportunity to add fresh talent to their offense and reshape the team’s future.

Chicago Bears Projected To Add DJ Giddens in 2025 NFL Draft

Last season, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams showed flashes of brilliance. Starting in all 17 games, he threw for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. While his PFSN QB+ rating of 63.2 (ranked 33rd) wasn’t stellar, it’s clear that with the right weapons around him, Williams has tons of room to grow.

In PFSN’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Joe DeLeone predicts that the Bears will aim to use pick 41 on Kansas State’s DJ Giddens. This dynamic running back is known for his “thumping” style and impressive physical traits. Giddens stands at 6’1” and is a powerful runner who combines vision, burst, and build, making him a perfect fit for a Chicago offense that currently lacks.

“Are you noticing a trend for my Bears picks yet? Ben Johnson can hit the ground running in Year 1 with a full offensive line rebuild and a thumping running back like DJ Giddens. Giddens has the vision, burst, and build to lead the Bears in rushing for many years to come.”

With Giddens, the Bears would be adding a running back who can grind out yards and provide balance to an offense that leaned heavily on the pass in 2024. Last season, Chicago finished the year with a PFSN Offense+ rating of 64 (D), indicating the team could use some improvements in that area.

Bears Must Also Focus on Offensive Line

Unfortunately, adding a player like Giddens alone will only help solve one of the Bears’ many problems. While upgrading the RB position is crucial, Chicago must also focus on improving its offensive line.

Providing Williams with the protection he needs will be one of Chicago’s most important needs going forward. That said, the Bears are likely to prioritize upgrading positions like guard, center, and offensive tackle in the 2025 NFL Draft.

By adding a versatile weapon like Giddens in Round 2, Chicago can help set up its young quarterback for success. Will this finally be the year they begin to break free from their long-standing struggles? That remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure — the Bears cannot afford to make mistakes in the draft.
