Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy Takes Issue With Ryan Clark Name-Dropping Him in Beef With Robert Griffin III

Ryan Clark exchanged words with Robert Griffin III after the latter took aim at Angel Reese, claiming that she has a personal hatred for Caitlin Clark. The former responded by stating that the former Heisman Trophy winner cannot relate to black women.

He accused his former coworker of being hyper-focused on his wife’s skin color and being one of the worst teammates he has had on the playing field and on television. He later added that RGIII was playing into a narrative of Reese being a villain, which he accused media personalities Keith Olbermann and Dave Portnoy of starting while the two WNBA stars were in college. The Barstool Sports founder fired back at those claims.

Dave Portnoy Responds to Being Name-Dropped by Ryan Clark in Robert Griffin III Feud

Portnoy took to X on Tuesday to express his frustration with his name being invoked in the back-and-forth between Clark and Griffin III. The Barstool Sports founder, who has been one of Caitlin Clark’s most vocal supporters throughout her professional career, claimed:

“I can’t believe I’m ranting about this again, but everyone’s still talking – Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, racism. Ryan Clark made a video attacking RGIII the other day – in the process, name-dropped me and Keith Olbermann, which is the biggest insult of all time. Like, don’t ever put me in the same sentence with Keith Olbermann. The guy is a certified jacka**.

“The way Ryan Clark just drops my name, like, hate – that Caitlin Clark fans or [Indiana] Fever fans or Iowa Hawkeyes fans don’t have a right or a reason to hate Angel Reese, like she’s a victim out of the clouds just because of the color of [her] skin is infuriating. Caitlin fans have every reason to hate Angel Reese – and I say hate in like the sports sense. Like you hate your rival. I hated Peyton Manning. Red Sox fans hate Yankees fans. Fever fans, Caitlin fans should hate Angel Reese.”

Portnoy claimed that while there are fans who may hate Reese or Clark due to their skin color, he is sick of people like Ryan Clark making the rivalry between the two players about more than basketball.

The Super Bowl XLIII champion has not addressed the sports media personality’s comments yet, and it is unclear if he has any plans to do so after Monday’s back-and-forth with Griffin III. Nonetheless, fans will follow this story closely.
