The Bandits are one of the original 12 USFL teams from the 1983 season. They’ve tasked former NFL offensive coordinator Todd Haley with head coaching duties this time around. On the opposing sideline sits one of the USFL expansion teams added in 1984, the Pittsburgh Maulers, who hired former NFL position coach Kirby Wilson to lead the team. Let’s see how to watch the Bandits at Maulers.

The storyline tonight will revolve around Ta’amu’s performance. The Bandits hope to have a successful season after nailing the 2022 USFL Draft. Aside from the QB, Tampa has the best offensive line in the league. They selected a solid tackle duo while also drafting Bruno Reagan and Damien Mama, who have excelled at the highest levels of college football.

The Bandits also selected former NFL Draft pick WR Jordan Lasley and Last Chance U standout John Franklin III. Add a big, sturdy tight end in Cheyenne O’Grady, and the Bandits have formed a formidable offensive force.

The Maulers will have to stay vigilant with one of the USFL’s Championship favorites as their opening opponent. Wilson has echoed the importance of limiting mental mistakes and unforced errors to his team, which leads to beating themselves.

The Maulers have the QB with the most meaningful NFL experience on their roster, former New York Giant Kyle Lauletta. Lauletta backed up Eli Manning and learned multiple playbooks during his time with the Giants and Cleveland Browns.

He doesn’t wow with his physical traits, but he limits his mistakes, making him a true game manager. The Maulers have some hard rushers ready to deploy Wilson’s ground-and-pound offense in the backfield. All he needs is Lauletta to protect the football against the Bandits.
