With the bulk of free-agency activity in the rearview mirror, attention has turned chiefly towards the 2025 NFL Draft. As teams conduct deeper dives into their potential 2025 rookies, it can be intriguing to discover how different teams view different prospects.
Such is the case with Alabama quarterback prospect Jalen Milroe, who, according to at least one NFL assistant general manager, isn’t getting enough credit.

Assistant General Manager Claims That Jalen Milroe Is a Better Passer Than People Think
Milroe is viewed as a project by most, a quarterback that many teams would be happy to take a shot on, but not necessarily start right away. His athleticism is obvious on film, as he’s seen regularly taking off and outrunning opposing defenders. His throwing accuracy, though, has left a lot to be desired at times, leading to the popular belief that he will be drafted despite his arm talent rather than because of it.
But according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, that’s not the view of at least one NFL assistant general manager, who believes that Milroe deserves more credit. Schultz didn’t name the assistant he spoke with but quoted him giving high praise for Milroe’s arm talent.
“He’s one of the most intriguing guys in the entire draft,” Schultz posted. “There’s a narrative that he’s just a running quarterback, but that’s way off.”
The assistant GM went on to suggest that Milroe’s deep-ball accuracy would be a factor in the NFL.
“His deep ball can be a major weapon at the next level. I’ve watched him a lot — he’s very capable in the pocket and carves up zone defenses well. There’s a lot to work with, and I like the kid.”
In what is widely believed to be a down year at the position, there is still believed to be a lot of Day 2 interest in several quarterback prospects. After Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, Ole Miss product Jaxson Dart is believed to be on an island as QB3. After Dart, though, Milroe is one of a group of passers that could be taken in any order come late April.
Latest PFSN Mock Draft Sends Milroe to New Orleans in Second Round of NFL Draft
In his latest seven-round mock draft for PFSN, Brentley Weissman has the New Orleans Saints taking a shot on Milroe early in the second round. Weissman cites the team’s failed attempts to find a starter in later rounds of previous drafts as the reason for their aggressive approach.
“New Orleans has taken a few mid-round swings for a young quarterback with Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler, but neither is likely to develop into anything more than long-term backups. Jalen Milroe has a chance to be a good starting quarterback in the league, and he has rare physical tools to warrant a gamble here in the second round.”
With the Saints struggling to meet salary-cap restrictions, Derek Carr’s contract will continue to be the elephant in the room. If the team could find a successor in the draft, Carr’s days in New Orleans would be numbered.
