Top DFS picks and fantasy plays

The late-game windows have no lack of talent and certainly have a bevy of spots taken by high-ceiling and high-upside players. The values for players in the Arkansas vs. Texas A&M matchup will help you set your lineup.

  • QB KJ Jefferson, Arkansas: $9,200
  • QB Max Johnson, Texas A&M: $7,000
  • RB Raheim Sanders, Arkansas: $9,200
  • RB Devon Achane, Texas A&M: $9,000
  • RB LJ Johnson Jr., Texas A&M: $4,900
  • RB AJ Green, Arkansas: $4,700
  • WR Ainias Smith, Texas A&M: $6,500
  • WR Jadon Haselwood, Arkansas: $6,500
  • WR Matt Landers, Arkansas: $6,200
  • WR Evan Stewart, Texas A&M: $5,300
  • WR Chase Lane, Texas A&M: $5,100
  • WR Warren Thompson, Arkansas: $5,000
  • TE Trey Knox, Arkansas: $5,700
  • TE Donovan Green, Texas A&M: $5,000

First things first, we’re clear to stay away from either of the quarterbacks at Texas A&M. Max Johnson may throw a touchdown or two, but his ill-fated throws and questionable decision-making make him a hard-to-play player with much better options around the nation. KJ Jefferson, however, is looking more like a lock to land in your lineup with his value compared to others in the 7:00 p.m. ET window.

A low-value player to watch in this one is Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart. Returning from an injury that sidelined him against Miami, the fabulous true freshman will be back in action. Only Antwane Wells of South Carolina has gone over 100 yards against Arkansas this season, but where and how Stewart wins is similar to Wells. They’re completely different receivers, but Stewart has the speed to burn and after-the-catch skills that rival any veteran receiver out there. If the game plan states to shut down Ainias Smith, then Stewart should face some favorable matchups.

Outside of that, paying the premium for Raheim Sanders is the only other value as the Rocket himself has topped 100 yards in each game and is targeted fairly often in the passing game. A&M’s defense has been gashed by the run, most notably by Camerun Peoples and Appalachian state, and Sanders should carry the load easily against the Aggies.

Prediction for Arkansas vs. Texas A&M

Needing a win to prove its worth in the top 10, Arkansas has its sights set on even higher rankings, according to coach Sam Pitman. Having built the Razorbacks roster from the ground up, starting in the trenches, this team is built to win the right way in the SEC. Their defense has been subject to criticism to start the season, however, and they’ll need to improve against more challenging passing attacks than A&M’s.

How Arkansas wins this game is following the roadmap to victory that App State created. Jefferson and Sanders should have big-time performances, and their road graders up front should dominate the line of scrimmage. The analytical edge in this one is more personnel than anything else. In a pick-em situation like this line is, find value in other aspects. Arkansas should win this game. But it’s an SEC game, and the pressure of holding down a top-10 spot is an underrated feat that few can handle.

Instead, look for a better line in this game. Take the over. Arkansas’ offense can score. A&M’s skill players are too talented not to score, even with Johnson or Haynes King at quarterback. It’ll be a back-and-forth affair, an exciting game, and one that should see plenty of fireworks with the defensive discrepancies.

Prediction: Arkansas 34, Texas A&M 27
