Are there Saturday football games today? NFL Preseason Week 1

Are there Saturday Football games today in Week 1 of the NFL preseason, who is playing, and what does the schedule look like going forward?

NFL football games on a Saturday are rare outside of the playoffs and preseason, and this week we have a full slate of 10 matchups. Let’s take a look at which games are on Saturday and what else we can look forward to on Saturdays during the season.

Are there NFL preseason games on Saturday?

The NFL is warming us up for the first Sunday of the season with 10 football games on the opening Saturday of the preseason. However, the games are staggered differently from what we will see on a Sunday.

Instead of having eight or more games kicking off at 1 PM ET, we will only have the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears matchup in that time slot. That game will kick off 12 straight hours of NFL Network coverage, covering four games back-to-back.

At 4 PM, we will also see just one game, as the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings go head to head, also on NFL Network. At 7 PM ET, the football games kick into gear on this first Saturday of the NFL preseason. The NFL Network contest between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns and the locally televised game between the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints get us started.

There are then games beginning every half an hour until 9 PM ET. These games will feature the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, New York Giants, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Las Vegas Raiders take the field for the first time in the 2021 season.

The football action ends at 10 PM ET Saturday with our final NFL game of the day. The Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams will finally play in front of their fans in SoFi Stadium.
