The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to host the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in what should be an intriguing AFC battle. The Jaguars come into the game 8-3 with a chance to get their ninth win of the season and keep pace with the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens in the race for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
As for the Bengals, they’re currently navigating life without star quarterback Joe Burrow and trying to stay afloat while doing so. With QB Jake Browning under center, the game loses a little bit of that star power when two young NFL star quarterbacks face off, but there is a family connection between the two teams that can add another fun layer to the matchup.
Are Press Taylor and Zac Taylor Related?
When the two teams square off, it’ll be another chapter in a brotherly rivalry. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor and Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor are siblings set to square off in prime time with the world watching.
The two brothers have squared off four other times in their careers with the most recent coming in 2020 when Press was the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. Oddly enough, that game ended in a tie between the two teams, so neither brother came out victorious that day.
However, Press does have the current bragging rights when it comes to head-to-head matchups with a career record against his older brother, 2-1-1.
“It’s a fun conversation point in our family,” Zac said about the two’s previous matchups. “There’s been a lot of trash-talking about that trophy. It doesn’t come up much between me and Press anymore. We battle more on board games. But I definitely know what the record is.
“I’d love nothing more than to beat my big brother. That didn’t happen much growing up,” Press said. “But the trophy trash talk now is more between me and Zac’s sons. In the summer, when I’m around my nephews, they give it to me if I lose, and I give it to them if I win.”
This will be the first time that Press will face his brother Zac as a member of the Jaguars’ organization, and he looks to have the upper hand this time around with a distinct advantage in the QB matchup.
Regardless of how it shakes out, it’s another cool moment for the Taylor family and a chance for one of the two to have bragging rights for at least a year.
