Anto Saka is an EDGE from Northwestern who is ranked No. 103 on my NFL Draft Top 100 Big Board. This comprehensive scouting report analyzes Saka’s draft potential, current mock draft trends, and where he ranks among the top prospects.
Anto Saka’s NFL Draft Potential
Anto Saka is a prospect who doesn’t have eye-catching production or two-phase efficiency, but would earn NFL interest regardless if he declared, on account of his physical tools. He’s beefed up to 255 pounds at 6’4″ this year, and he’s still retained his teleportation-like explosiveness and long-strider speed up the arc. Few EDGE prospects are better than Saka at cornering and using curvilinear acceleration to capitalize on angle advantages in the pass-rush phase.
Having said all this, Saka is still too raw beyond his sheer size-speed profile and the flashes of take-on prowess in run defense. His low 70.3 PFSN EDGE Impact score reflects this. Saka still doesn’t have a very big arsenal of pass-rush moves and still struggles to sustain power rushes with proper base alignment. He might be best served to transfer and take another year of development, but the raw tools are compelling enough in an NFL position room.
CFB Week 9 Update
Week 9 was unfortunately more of the same for Saka. He played just 20 defensive snaps, and on his pass-rush snaps, he had a meager pressure percentage below 10%, per PFF. Saka’s physical profile remains eye-catching, but his refinement as a pass-rusher has not taken the desired step, and with his relatively narrow frame, he can be washed off the line by double-teams in the run game, too. Saka’s best move might be to return to school and transfer, to try and seek better developmental infrastructure.
CFB Week 10 Update
Northwestern was on a bye in Week 10, but the Wildcats will return to action in Week 11 against the ranked USC Trojans. USC’s offensive line has quietly been one of the better units in college football this season, and Saka will have to be on top of his game to avoid getting washed out in support or neutralized on the rush. The Trojans should control the game script from the start, which means Saka’s leverage acquisition and point-of-attack technique will be key.
Where Is Saka Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?
Saka currently holds the No. 87 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 73.1 as of October 27 reflects that he is typically being selected on Day 2 or early Day 3.
Interestingly, his ADP is higher than his rank, suggesting that users are targeting him more aggressively than his positional ranking might indicate.
Users controlling the Kansas City Chiefs have been the team that selected Saka the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.1% of their picks across all seven rounds.
