Analyst Reveals Why the 2025 NFL Draft Is the Most ‘Unique’ Class He’s Ever Seen

The anticipation is nearly over, as the 2025 NFL Draft is now under a month away. With mock drafts changing at the snap of a finger, it’s anyone’s guess where certain players will fall. The most intriguing of them all is arguably the best prospect in the last 20 years: Travis Hunter. One NFL analyst has incredibly high praise for the Colorado product, who hopes to play both sides of the ball.

2025 NFL Draft May Be One for the Ages

Hunter looks to do something no one has ever fully accomplished—play consistently on offense and defense. NFL draft analyst Matt Miller joined Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show, where he gave his thoughts on the dual-threat talent.

Following Miller’s most recent mock draft, Adams asked what makes this class so unique.

“We have a unique player—that is Travis Hunter—at the top of this draft,” Miller said. “I’ve been doing this for 15 years, and I’ve never seen someone try to do what he’s doing: playing wide receiver and corner full time.”

Miller continued by discussing former NFL players who have tried to accomplish such a feat but never fully achieved it.

“We’ve seen guys like Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey, Jabrill Peppers—they came into the NFL doing a little bit of one thing, playing offense, mostly defense,” said Miller. “Travis Hunter is very adamant that he is going to play both.”

Miller then highlighted Hunter’s accolades and how they boost his stock as a two-way player.

“It does make him really, really unique,” said Miller. “He won the Heisman Trophy as a two-way player. He also won an award as the best wide receiver in football at the same time he won an award as the best defensive player in college football last year.”

The ESPN draft analyst closed his thoughts by praising Hunter’s role in shaping the tone for this year’s class.

“What he’s doing at that level is unprecedented,” said Miller. “So that really sets off the tempo for this draft class—that there are a lot of unique, versatile players. Like Jalon Walker from Georgia, like Abdul Carter from Penn State, who might be the No. 2 overall pick in this draft.”

“So it is a really fun year where we do have that versatility—a lot of guys who can bring a lot of different elements to the NFL that should get their fan bases excited.”

Predicting Where Hunter Falls in 2025 Draft

Using PFSN’s 2025 Mock Draft Simulator, Hunter falls to No. 5 overall, where he is claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Brentley Weissman of PFSN elaborates more on Hunter’s draft profile and what makes him a once-in-a-lifetime player.

“As a prospect, Hunter possesses below-average overall size and length but offers once-in-a-generation type of overall athleticism,” Weissman wrote. “He has rare quickness, speed, and burst that allow him to excel and win against most players he lines up against on either side of the ball. Furthermore, Hunter has rare instincts, ball skills and is hyper-competitive—all of which are evident in the way he plays the game.”

The 2024 Heisman Trophy recipient has skills suited for either side of the football field. Whether Hunter plays receiver, corner, or both, it’s undeniable—whoever lands him in this draft will be hitting the jackpot.
