New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has seen his name bandied about in trade rumors as the NFL trade deadline looms on Nov. 4. Kamara has been a standout back during his career with the Saints, but he’s not happy with the rumors flying around.
In fact, Kamara came out Thursday with a definitive statement about what he’d be doing if he, indeed, was shipped out of New Orleans.
Alvin Kamara Is No Fan Of Trade Rumors
When asked about his name popping up around the league, Kamara didn’t sound like he would play for a new team.
“Alvin Kamara said today that if they trade him, he’s going to just go drink ‘pina coladas’ somewhere,” Saints reporter Nick Underhill posted on X.

It appears that Kamara’s future with the Saints has already been decided, and he will continue playing for the NFC South franchise.
Last week, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport stated that Kamara had sent a pretty clear message to Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he wanted to stay with New Orleans. “Sources say Kamara told Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he’d like to remain with the franchise through the rest of his career,” Rapoport reported.
When the 1-5 Saints started hearing from other teams around the NFL about the possibility of picking up Kamara, the veteran running back put his foot down.
“Loomis approached Kamara in a proactive way when the team was getting calls about his potential availability,” Rapoport reported. “Loomis wanted to treat one of the faces of the franchise the right way.”
A number of teams, including the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, reportedly reached out to Loomis and asked about Kamara’s availability. With Kamara’s intentions made toward Loomis and what the running back said on Thursday, a trade of any type is highly unlikely at this time.
Based on PFSN’s RB Impact metrics, Kamara is currently ranked as the 26th-best running back in the league with a 76.3 PFSN RB Impact Score and grades out at a C. Kamara has shown an ability to be quite a successful dual-threat back for the Saints’ offense behind quarterback Spencer Rattler.
So far in the 2025 NFL season, Kamara has 83 carries for 314 yards along with 22 receptions for 122 yards. The Saints now should be careful and think twice about including Kamara in future trade discussions this season.
