AJ Dillon Free Agency Predictions: Potential Landing Spots Include Cowboys and Rams

There has been a lot of movement around the NFL regarding the running back position. Since the legal tampering period has commenced, stars like Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs switched teams. However, despite the bigger names finding new homes, some running backs like AJ Dillon have not.

The former Green Bay Packers RB looks to be on his way out of there as Jacobs settles into his role, and with that comes an opportunity for a fresh start for the former Boston College RB. We take a closer look at some potential fits around the NFL that could make sense as landing spots for him.

Cowboys and Dillon Feel Like a Perfect Pairing

Tony Pollard is on his way to Tennessee to join the Titans, and that leaves a big hole in the Cowboys’ backfield. With only second-year running back Deuce Vaughn under contract, the Cowboys will be at some point adding another running back into the fold.

Dillon’s price point should not be a lofty one, and that right there already makes him a Cowboys candidate.

Add to the fact that he is a big physical back who can get tough rushing yards, and the fit almost makes too much sense between the two parties.

Adding Dillon to the fold and drafting a running back at some point in the upcoming draft would be a textbook Cowboys move.

Giants Are Another NFC East Team That Could Be a Fit

Gone are the days of having Saquon Barkley as the superstar running back is now in Philadelphia with the Eagles. The Giants have already reportedly agreed to terms with Devin Singletary, but adding Dillon to the mix would be a solid 1-2 punch in the Big Apple.

It looks like it will be a complete overhaul for the Giants in their running back room, and if you’re not going to have Barkley anymore, having two solid cost-effective backs in the fold may be the way to go.

Rams Could Use Quality Depth

The clear leader in the running back room for the Los Angeles Rams is Kyren Williams. However, beyond that, there is less stability with Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans in the fold.

Mentioning that Dillon doesn’t project to be an expensive addition to a team, the Rams could look to solidify their RB2 spot with a big, physical running back who won’t break the bank to do so.

The Rams have always been willing to use free agency to their advantage, and this could be another smart, low-risk way to add more power to their offensive group.
