Thanksgiving marks the start of Week 12 in fantasy football, and many leagues are only one or two weeks away from beginning their playoffs.
As is the case every week, the receiver position has many players dealing with some injury issues. A few of those receivers are Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin, and Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers. Let’s take a look at these guys and what their status is for their upcoming games.
WR Injury Updates
A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
Brown is coming off one of the worst games of his career and the worst during his time as an Eagle. In the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, he had only one catch for eight yards.
Before the last two games, Brown had six consecutive games of at least six catches and 127 yards. He has been one of the best receivers in the NFL all year, as he is tied with Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb for second in receiving yards (1,013). Only Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (1,222) has more yards.
However, there is some bad news, as Brown was limited on Wednesday at practice because of a thigh injury. He has been extremely healthy this year — he hasn’t been on the injury report once.
For now, this is something to keep an eye on. In the next 24 hours or so, if he is on the injury report, then it might be something to worry about. The Eagles definitely hope he is available to go since they are hosting the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Despite being only 4-6 on the season, the Buccaneers are only one game behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. One of the reasons why they have been able to hang around in the division is the play of Godwin.
Godwin has 50 catches for 561 yards so far this season. Still, it may be tough for him to produce this upcoming week as he is battling not one but two injuries.
He was limited in practice on Wednesday and is dealing with knee and elbow injuries. His injuries weren’t indicated before the game against the San Francisco 49ers, so he either had a pre-existing injury or hurt it in practice.
The Indianapolis Colts are tied for 18th in the league, allowing 228.8 passing yards per game. If Godwin is healthy, this could be a great matchup for him. His status is something to follow the next day or two, as this could be a huge decision for many fantasy football managers.
Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens have been searching for receivers in the past few NFL Drafts, and they appear to have found their guy in Flowers. The rookie from Boston College has 53 catches for 588 yards and one touchdown this season.
While the touchdowns aren’t as high as managers would like, he has shown the potential to be a very good fantasy receiver in the future.
Like the other two receivers on this list, Flowers is dealing with an injury. He was limited on Wednesday because of his hip. This is the first time he has not been a full participant all year, and this doesn’t appear to be a serious injury.
In the win against the Cincinnati Bengals, he was on the field for 98% of the snaps, finishing with four touches for 50 yards.
He also had a 69-yard catch for a touchdown that was called back on a questionable holding penalty.
Right now, it feels more like Flowers will be on the field ready to go on Sunday, but as is the case with all three of these players, keep an eye on his status tomorrow.
