Is Jalen Ramsey moving on from the Dolphins?
A recent surge in the seven-time Pro Bowler’s social media following has fueled speculation about a potential move to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are currently thin at cornerback.
However, senior NFL insider Adam Schefter downplayed the rumors and did not mention Pittsburgh among the two possible landing spots he named for the star cornerback.

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that NFL players love being cryptic, often choosing to drop hints and express themselves through subtle social media moves. Ramsey knows this game well; after all, he’s been in the NFL for nine years. With that in mind, his latest activity on Instagram might have revealed a possible move to the Steelers.
The cornerback recently followed several players from the team, all of whom he hadn’t followed before. However, if Schefter is proven correct, Ramsey’s Instagram activity may not mean anything. The ESPN insider named the Chargers and the Rams as the two teams Ramsey would like to sign with.
“The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey, and I think a trade there will get done,” he said on the Pat McAfee Show. “The question is when does it get done?… I don’t know exactly when it’s gonna be, but Jalen Ramsey will get traded. I would expect it before the start of the training camp. And I think he would like to go to the West Coast, Los Angeles, Rams, Chargers, something like that.”

Ramsey has been heavily linked to a reunion with the Rams and Chargers this season, but perhaps the biggest hurdle in a trade remains his contract. He received $24.235 million guaranteed at signing, but it doesn’t kick in until the 2026 season. His base salary in 2025 is just $1.255 million.
A trade would leave the Dolphins with $10.745 million in dead cap in 2025 and $18.468 million in 2026, making the move a painful proposition. Miami saves over $5.9 million in 2025, but the challenge for whoever lands Ramsey lies in the following years of the contract.
Starting in 2026, Ramsey’s base salary rises to $10 million with a $25.033 million cap hit, but no guarantees remain. If traded, the Dolphins would pay out his remaining guarantees over two years because of the post-June 1 designation.
This gives any acquiring team the option to move on after 2025 with minimal penalty, making the deal easy to treat as a one-year rental if desired.
There is also the question of what Miami is asking in return. At this point in his career, it’s unlikely Ramsey would command more than a fourth-round pick, but it remains unclear what the Dolphins are requesting and whether Los Angeles teams are willing to part with a draft pick to make it happen.
