It’s a big weekend for NFL teams as scouts and front offices assemble at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. College athletes will also do their best to show off their athleticism and abilities at the NFL Scouting Combine. While the athletes will be the main event of the weekend, the NFL media had their own.
NFL reporters and insiders are hard at work in Indianapolis as they work to get the best inside scoops to provide to NFL fans. NFL insider Ian Rapoport and Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz got into a verbal altercation at a Starbucks over a dispute on a Matthew Stafford report. ESPN’s Adam Schefter decided to have some fun with this and took to social media to poke fun.

Adam Schefter’s Reaction to the Altercation
The pressure on reporters to get the best news quickly, accurately, and before competitors do is very real. The altercation between Schultz and Rapoport is just further evidence of the intensity of reporting at the NFL Combine. Schultz reportedly approached Rapoport asking him to talk. Rapoport declined Schultz’s desire to talk, and the altercation blew up from there.
Eventually, after Schultz reportedly exchanged some verbal blows and a few expletives to Rapoport, NFL security was brought in to de-escalate the situation. Schultz initially admitted to using expletives but drew back this admission, saying he doesn’t recall using any foul language.
While this was a wild altercation for the media, Schefter had fun on social media to grab some laughs by posting at a Starbucks.
“INDIANAPOLIS — Head on a swivel,” Schefter posted on X with a picture of Starbucks.Â

Schefter will be sure to watch out for flying insults now at the Starbucks in Indianapolis. He will not want to be caught in the middle of another incident at all, especially in Indianapolis. He will surely be aware to avoid confrontation so that the news that surrounds his name is his quick and accurate reports from the NFL Combine itself
What Sparked the Altercation?
The altercation stemmed from a report on a meeting between the Las Vegas Raiders and Matthew Stafford. Schultz dropped a report that Raiders minority owner Tom Brady had a meeting with Stafford at Brady’s Montana home in an attempt to convince Stafford to take his talents to Las Vegas.
Sources: #Raiders minority owner Tom Brady recently hosted #Rams QB Matthew Stafford at his home in Montana, where they spent time together and went skiing. Brady has been actively trying to convince Stafford to join the Raiders, and discussions are ongoing.

Rapoport’s report confirmed an encounter between Brady and Stafford but attested that this meeting in Montana was short and unplanned. He denied that this meeting had anything to do with Brady’s attempt to get Stafford to join the Raiders.
Rapoport closed his report with “despite reports saying otherwise.” Whether this was a direct shot at Schultz can only be answered by Rapoport, but Schultz seemingly took offense to this.

Over this discrepancy, Schultz wanted to talk to Rapoport about this potential dig at him. Schultz eventually double downed on his report and went after Rapoport.
“If you really think Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford just happened to run into each other at a ski resort in Montana — of all places — at the exact same time, I’ve got a bridge to sell you,” said Schultz.

Schultz is frustrated with Rapoport’s handling of the situation and makes fun of the absurdity of the potential random meeting between Brady and Stafford at a ski resort.
Rapoport and Schultz have different stories and are sticking to what they’ve heard. While Rapoport and Schultz duke it out, other media members like Schefter could sit back, joke, and watch.
