ACC football Week 14 is now in the rear view mirror, and that concludes the regular season of college football. This week, Bryce Perkins had an extraordinary performance, leading the Virginia Cavaliers to an upset victory over their state rival, the Virginia Tech Hokies. This win secures the ACC Coastal Division for the Cavaliers and puts Virginia in the ACC Championship Game against the talented Clemson Tigers.
Virginia and Clemson, the only two teams from the ACC that are ranked, will meet next Saturday at Bank of America Stadium for the ACC title. It will be a Davis vs. Goliath battle, as the Clemson Tigers are a far superior team in terms of talent and coaching. Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, and Travis Etienne have all been playing at an elite level, which will present a tough task for the Virginia defense. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it will be the Clemson Tigers hoisting the ACC crown and being one of the final four teams in the College Football Playoff.
Down Goes Nasirildeen
Despite big games from Cam Akers and Tamorrion Terry, the Florida State Seminoles were obliterated by the Florida Gators. There was bad news coming out of the matchup, as Florida State safety Hamsah Nasirildeen was carted off the field. Nasirildeen has elevated his game in 2019, becoming one of the best safeties in college football. Any substantial injury at this point in the season would put his 2020 NFL Draft status in serious jeopardy. Nasirildeen joins a list of talented ACC players who have had their seasons cut short due to injury. That list contains Wake Forest wide receiver Sage Surratt, Virginia cornerback Bryce Hall, and Florida State defensive tackle Marvin Wilson.
DeeJay Dallas has his eyes on the NFL
DeeJay Dallas did not suit up for the Miami Hurricanes embarrassing loss to the Duke Blue Devils in ACC football Week 14; however, Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline has learned that Dallas intends to bolt to the NFL following the 2019 season. Dallas is an interesting prospect, whose best football is ahead of him. It would be safe to project Dallas as a 5th-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.
ACC Football Week 14 Roundup
The Syracuse Orange were able to shock the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 39-30. Wake Forest junior quarterback, Jamie Newman, suffered a knee injury that knocked him out of this game and the Syracuse defense was able to create five turnovers, which led to the victory.
Behind another brilliant performance by running back AJ Dillon, the Boston College Eagles beat Pittsburgh by the tune of 26-19. Dillon rushed for 178 yards and a touchdown, putting an exclamation point on a great collegiate career. While NFL teams won’t love his forty time, Dillon is a gifted runner that has an NFL future.
The North Carolina Tar Heels put the smackdown on their state rival, the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Sam Howell, North Carolina’s freshman quarterback, was magnificent, carving up the Pitt defense for 401 yards and three touchdowns. Senior safety Myles Dorn had a key interception, while junior linebacker Chazz Surratt was making plays all over the field.
Let’s take a look at Week 14’s top performers.
