Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter is one of the most hyped prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Projected to be one of the first players off the board, Carter combines rare athleticism with polished technique — and has impressed scouts throughout the pre-draft process, solidifying his place near the top of the class.
One team that could be a strong fit is the New York Giants, who hold the No. 3 pick and are looking for a defensive playmaker to take their unit to the next level. Fueling the speculation, Carter recently posted a photo that sparked rumors he could be headed to New York.

Abdul Carter Posts Lawrence Taylor Photo
The greatest legend in New York Giants history is undoubtedly outside linebacker Lawrence Taylor — widely regarded as the best defensive player in football history.
Over 12 seasons with the franchise, he won two Super Bowls, earned Defensive Player of the Year honors three times, and is one of only two defensive players in NFL history to win the league MVP award.
With that legacy in mind, Abdul Carter recently posted a photo of Lawrence Taylor — without any caption — simply featuring the famous quote from Wellington T. Mara: “Once a Giant, always a Giant.”

Carter met with the Giants on a Top 30 visit, and the post immediately fueled speculation that Carter could be headed to New York. It certainly got Giants fans excited.
One fan posted: “Drafting Abdul Carter would be one of the smartest pure football decisions this team has made in years. Can you imagine a defensive front of Dexter Lawrence bookended by Abdul Carter and Brian Burns? Kayvon in rotation. We would have a legit identity. Back to our roots, Giants.”
As of now, Carter is the favorite to be selected by the Giants according to most sportsbooks. The only team that could block that from happening is the Cleveland Browns who currently hold the No. 2 overall selection.
While Travis Hunter is widely expected to be their choice, there’s still a chance they opt to pair Abdul Carter with Myles Garrett to form one of the most dangerous pass-rushing duos in the league.
In Brentley Weissman’s most recent two-round mock draft for PFSN, Abdul Carter was selected by the New York Giants, with Travis Hunter going to the Browns and Cam Ward to the Tennessee Titans. That would be a dream scenario for Giants fans — and potentially the perfect fit for Carter to develop into a true NFL star.
Abdul Carter’s skill set makes him one of the top five prospects in this year’s Draft. With the ability to contribute from Day 1 in the NFL, Carter is expected to be the first defensive player off the board.
