Aaron Rodgers in Danger of Missing OTAs for Steelers As 4-Time NFL MVP Continues To Delay Free Agency Decision

Aaron Rodgers has taken his time with his various offseason decisions before, but this has taken it to another level. The former Green Bay Packers star hasn’t decided which team to join. He hasn’t even guaranteed whether he will be on the gridiron this season.

While there’s still plenty of time to land with a team before training camp begins at the end of July, he’s cutting it close with OTAs. One NFL analyst has opened the door to the former New York Jets quarterback missing the event entirely.

Mike Florio Opens Door to Aaron Rodgers Missing OTAs

Writing in a May 26 Pro Football Talk article, NFL analyst Mike Florio questioned whether Rodgers would show his face at any of the OTA practices “over the next two weeks.”

“Still, Rodgers hasn’t signed yet. Chances are he won’t be signing by tomorrow. (But, no, it’s not impossible.) The question becomes whether Rodgers will show up for any of the upcoming OTAs over the next two weeks,” Florio wrote. “After that, the Steelers have their annual mandatory minicamp. (Last year, Rodgers skipped the Jets’ mandatory minicamp to go to Egypt.)”

Without a deal, the quarterback has no obligation to participate in any offseason program, and that might be the point. By skipping mandatory minicamp last offseason, he made it clear that he had other priorities at this time of year.

This time around, he has the chance to do whatever he wants instead of OTAs without any head coach or added speculation like in 2024. Unless something changes, he appears to be taking the opportunity.

Rodgers Rules Out 2 Potential Landing Spots

The New Orleans Saints emerged as a potential landing spot for Rodgers after the 2025 NFL Draft when Derek Carr announced his sudden retirement. However, the former Packers quarterback stopped any and all speculation about a potential move to the Big Easy.

According to Adam Schefter in a May 26 X post, Rodgers was asked at an event whether he would join the Saints. He claimed he was “too old” to “live in Louisiana.”

“No. That’s the answer. No. I’ve played there a couple of times but no. The answer is no. I’m too old, I don’t want to live in Louisiana. Sorry,” he said.

He was also asked if he would ever go to the Chicago Bears. He declined, flatly saying, “no, but I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year.”

Pittsburgh travels to face the Bears on Nov. 23, 2025. Of course, there are many other teams the Bears face this season. Will Rodgers be on one of them?
